3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
THOUGHTS: Nothing really special and not at all really Christmasy. Just a well-made, nicely-balanced amber ale. Fairly British.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, dark amber that was nearly brown in the glass with a large to huge, beige head that diminished very slowly and left good lacing. The aroma had moderate toasted and nutty malts; light caramel; moderate resinous and earthy hops; and light floral and citrus hops. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and bitter; while the finish was slightly sweet, moderately bitter and lightly acidic with an average to long duration. There was caramel, citrus hops, toasted and nutty malts, earthy and resinous hops and burnt malt. The light to medium body was a little watery with soft carbonation and an ever so slightly metallic if anything finish.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Orange peel, peanut hull nose, not strong. Clear tea colored, medium cream colored head. Quite metallic, pecan, and cardboard flavor, subtle juniper berry accents. Light body. Pretty disappointing, especially since age is not a factor for this seasonal beer sampled in season.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Clear reddish mahogany, foamy beige head... Aroma of malty wort, spices... Slightly soapy... Flavor is totally boring, watery thin base with rotten spices throughout... Poor effort

Below average. Weak aroma and a really plain taste. Wasn’t expecting much but still drinkable in a pinch.

I don’t think this beer was in season, the best before date was marked 3/14/12 (bought on 9/7/14) I didn’t see that until after I finished the 6-pack. Nice brown ale, hope I don’t die.
