UPDATED: AUG 26, 2007 I am not a big Abita fan. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a copper color with a large tan head. The aroma is sweet and lightly fruity with a slightly macro sour undertone. The flavor is sour macro tang with a sweet underside that is moderately bready. The finish is a bit chewy.

Bottle. Pours an average cheddar orange with a slightly lively body and a thin but tall head of white. Aroma is malt biscuit and stale hops. Flavor is fresh hay and a touch of floral honey on top of a malted biscuit. Average mouthfeel. Not disgusting, but not worth more than a binge drink session.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 hotstuff (3249) - Indiana, USA - JUN 1, 2004
Bottle. Medium sized white head and fine-small sized bubbles that mostly diminished. Fast-rising carbonation, transparent and a golden hue. Malty, hoppy, sweet and spicy aroma. Spicy, watery, malty, and an astringent taste. Smooth mouthfeel but thin. Light-medium bodied beer with sparse lacing.
2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Aurelius (3143) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - NOV 27, 2002
Disappointing. The beer has some sort of vegetable-potato-funky grain thing going. Orangish gold. Medium body. Long peanutty-potato, mildly bitter finish. Appearance dings for the label and the screw-off cap. Probably OK with food, but non-stellar by itself.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Butters (3013) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - JAN 2, 2010
Shared with scottyp at woody’s. Pours a clear amber with minimal ring of offwhite head. caramel, toast, bread, lightly bitter, paper napkin. Not a bad beer for octoberfest style.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 cheapdark (2956) - Quiptown & Central Valley, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 6, 2007
Fall fest from Abita, brown 12 oz twist off cap bottle. The bottle is short and stubby like other Abita beers I’ve sampled. This has some stiff competition for the style, including hacker. Twist off the cap to reveal aroma of sweetness hint, background of a strong ale and typical festive smell. Clear brownish light yellow, the head is small and white, and then rapidly fades to leave a ring on the top. Taste has a nice impact, not overwhelming with alcohol, but it does let you know it is there. Lager with personality. The end leaves a shallow bite on the palate and the ol’ uvula senses a hint of bitterness tho relatively mild and acceptable for this style. Well behaved and enjoyable. This is a good beer but I rate the following October fests higher; Hacker, Hofbrau & Schell. This is on par with; Penn, City, Victory & Flying Dog.

(bottle - 12 oz) Slightly hazy orange pour with a thin white head. Very mild aroma with some vegetable hints and some dry malts. Slightly sweet and rather balanced flavor with a little bit of hops trying to come up through the dry malts. Finishes clean and a bit watery.
