COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abita Golden is a crisp, clean continental lager. Just four ingredients is all it takes: American malt, Mt. Hood hops, German lager yeast and pure Abita spring water. As the name applies, Abita Golden has a brilliant gold color.

Bottle: Pours a light orange color with a nice white head. The nose is light and husky with a touch of wooden tasting hops. Clean light flavor, light body and a husky grassy finish. What’s more to say.

There is absolutely nothing special about this product, especially to justify the eight bucks for a six pack. Standard lager coloration and aroma, not bad. Well carbonated, refreshing, but bland. Usually smaller breweries kill you with hops, but Abita overcompensates in their attempt to avoid that charge.

Standard lager. Found this one at tops of the hops bierfest in Biloxi. Taste was alright, but a bit weak and had a bad aftertaste.

Pours a clear yellow with no real head. The taste is of mediocre, generic malt with a hint of skunk. First skunky beer I’ve had from a brown bottle. Continental lager my left thumb. Pale lager...

Geez, these guys can make great beer when they want to. Why o why do they put stuff like this out there? Poured with a small white head and no lace. Color is a hazy gold. Aroma is a bit skunky malt cereal. Flavor is like aroma plus a generous dash of kerosene. Body is not bad, but carbonation is razor sharp.Finish is like flavor and best forgotton. Which is easy to do in this case.

Abita Springs Brewing Company--Golden Lager--1999 Release--12 oz. Bottle--4.80% ABV. (2.5 / 5.0) Pilsner--Clear bright light golden color appears rich. Light aromatics in front foreshadow light body that is thin but almost develops a touch of smoky malt. Unique flavors from water. Finishes easy. Sampled 7/3/1999.

Abita Golden has a thick, creamy head, moderate to high carbonation, and a cloudy, golden color. Fine particulate matter is floating throughout. It has sloppy lacing. Aroma is almost non-existent, but a sour mash smell can be detected. Taste is good, with a sour dough, somewhat roasted flavor. The sour characteristic is inoffensive, however. Mouthfeel is heavy. Overall, this is a good beer, with much more taste and character than Abita Amber or Bock. RJT
