COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abita Golden is a crisp, clean continental lager. Just four ingredients is all it takes: American malt, Mt. Hood hops, German lager yeast and pure Abita spring water. As the name applies, Abita Golden has a brilliant gold color.

As American lagers go, this one is better than most. It has a grassy hop aroma with plenty of malt. The appearance is pale golden and the head is smallish. The flavor is evenly balanced between bitter and sweet. The malt is bread like and there is a hay like quality to it. The palate is average for the style and there is a little bit of a corn taste in the finish but I have to say this is a good lager. It doesn’t have the metallic or garbage taste so common to American lagers.

Smells like crap. I’d give it a zero if I could. Tastes like a lager, nothing premium about it. A Natty light by another name. Not a winner.

Very hazy golden colour with a nice white head. Actually looks really nice. Smells of metal, yeast, a bit of hops and strong malt dominate the aroma. Light to Medium-bodied; Subtle flavours of the malt and a bit of hops showing. A very mild finish, just a bit more flavour than water! Overall, not an offensive beer in any sense, but just not enough flavour in the taste. The appearance is very nice though! I got this twelve ounce bottle at Beers of the World in Rochester, New York.

12 oz bottle. Pours a pale straw yellow with a good size fizzy white head. Lots of carbonation. The aroma is very grassy, nearly devoid of hops, with some bready malt. The flavor is very thin with just a light pale bready maltiness and a lightly lemony finish. Mouthfeel is thin and fizzy as expected with a short limp finish. Overall, not the most flavorful beast, but a step above the macro Pale Lagers.

had in 2005...Pours with a foamy healthy medium head, good lacing, golden colour..sweet almost wheat honey smell..faint smell..good taste, like beer soaked frosted flakes, kinda sweet, a little weak but pleasing in the hot new orleans wheather!

Short 12oz twistoff bottle. Bright golden yellow color. tall fizzy white head. Aroma of corn meal and straw. Flavor is very sweet. Not a balanced beer. Very little hop presence. Some bitterness. Maybe 1 or 2 IBUs. Corn sugar sweet flavor and that is all. Same ole Abita.

Light and crisp with an herbal-like aroma. Light and soft malts - match stick notes. Slightly fruity in a way. Very mild bitterness and dryish finish. Rather carbonated. Easy to drink.

A very good lager. The aroma is very inviting and rich and buttery. Flavor is crisp, but not too carbonated. Palate is satisfying and a bit thicker than most mass market lagers.

Bottle pours clear pale yellow with good white head. Nose is faintly grainy with a hint of mustard. flavor is corny, butter, and light hop spice. Medium thin body with moderate carbonation. blah.
