COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abita Golden is a crisp, clean continental lager. Just four ingredients is all it takes: American malt, Mt. Hood hops, German lager yeast and pure Abita spring water. As the name applies, Abita Golden has a brilliant gold color.

Golden yellow transparent pilsner body; head is swift in its descent and thins to a partial white... Hallertau hops noticeable and metallic malt is present,...predicatble, but not annoying...slow, effervescent bubbles... creamy, soft palate with a late malt kick... crisp, soft rather unobtrusive flavor... golden, yes--consistent in its modesty and a true member of its style...

Bottle. Light golden, small and fully diminishing head. Light to moderate, malty - lightly grainy and lightly sweetish aroma, light grassy hoppyness. Body light to medium, malty - lightly grainy and lightly sweetish, light grassy hoppyness. Finish is short to average, malty and lightly sweetish, light grassy hoppyness. Watery lager - that´s it.

4/16/12. 12oz bottle. Slightly hazed golden pour with a small off-white head that fades and barely laces. The aroma is 90% creamed corn with touches of wheat malt and bread. Soft, bready flavor with small punches of orange and tart lemon, but not a lot. Very plain. Meh.

Hazy golden pour a very mild hop and smoke aroma. Not a lot going on. The body was too thin for my taste with a slight skunk finish.

Bottle - pale yellow and slightly cloudy. Has a light citrus taste to it and it has a watered down finish. Nothing special about this beer.

Reviewed from notes (2008). A: Thin straw yellow color with a non existant head... S: Faint malt aroma with a passing hop highlight T: The taste matches the aroma exactly... not terribly complex... but pleasant malt flavors nonetheless M: Smooth and refreshing... light-medium body.. medium carbonation O: An ok session beer.

12 oz bottle. Pours clear yellow with small white head. The aroma is subtle and malty with some fruity notes. The flavor is light crackery malt with a little bit of grassy hops. Finish is a tad watery. Smells better than it tastes.

Bottled sample. Pale gold in colour with strong carbonation. Aromas are of pilsner malt, clover honey, white bread dough, and a touch of earthy hops. Muted pilsner malt and mineral flavour, along with some sulfur and grass. Mouthfeel starts creamy before a clean mineral finish on the back end. Nothing special, but not all that bad either.

Bottle from sprint mart. Pours dark golden with a thin white head that goes poof as soon as you turn your back. Not much on the nose except a bit of corn. pretty bland taste, slightly metallic finish.

12oz bottle, purchased from Party Source for $1.45. Totally clear lightish yellow color, good head fading quickly to minimal, some lace. I just had the Abita Light before this, which I was pleasantly suprised with, but this one isn’t doing the same thing for me. It lacks that pleasant citrusy sweetness, this one is just light skunk, bread, water (although I am seeing the hint of spicy hotness that someone else suggested). Some bitter taste. Drinkable, with a good texture and crisp, smooth carbonation. Noticable aftertaste, which is kind of unfortunate.
