Abita Golden is a crisp, clean continental lager. Just four ingredients is all it takes: American malt, Mt. Hood hops, German lager yeast and pure Abita spring water. As the name applies, Abita Golden has a brilliant gold color.

Was not sure of the style when I purchased and did not look at the label closely, but when I openned this there was no doubt that this was a lager. Slightly hazy light golden color with a diminished dense white head. Pale malt nose with a hint of spicy hops. Pale malt flavors, with a light bitterness. A straight forward not pretenses type lager.

@ Party Town / Florence KY - Clear light amber with a godd bubbly 1" head, sheets of lace. Taste is where things go bad: a slightly sour malt with no depth moves through a weak palatr to a non-bittered finish. What starts is what finishes. Not recommended

A mediocre, very mild golden lager. Not as smooth as I’d like, but its definitely got the mild breadiness and slightly sharp hop character you’d need for a premium lager.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of semi sweet grains and hay with a hint of earthy grass. Flavor has lots of sweet grains with some underlying grassiness and a bit of biscuit and hay.

Rated on 4-08-2009 - This bottled beer pours a medium sized white head with a short retention, transparent yellow body, fast rising, very fizzy carbonation, and spotty amounts of lacing. The Aroma is malty, hoppy, corn, and crisp. The Taste is a duplicate of the Aroma. The Palate is lightly tingly and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, the flavors of this beer just did not come together as they should have as it falls way short of being a very tasty beer. This is a beer I do not recommend.

Bottle: Not a big fan of Abita, most beers are thin and lack character. Food Pairing: Conch ceviche.

Pours a pale straw color with a small head that fades quickly to no real lacing. Aroma of citrus, some malt sweetness and grain. Taste is quite bland with a bit of malt sweetness and grain. Light bitterness and a a clean finish. Light body with no real flavor, A non-offensive beer that reminds me of a dull Euro Lager.

Poured into a pint glass out of a growler. Pours a clear light gold with just a half finger white head. There is some wispy head on top but very little in the way of lacing or head retention for that matter. Aroma is slightly sweet with lots of grain and hints of caramel and toast. A little bit of lemon and roasted malt and a yeasty note that is very typical of Abita. Some sweetness up front in the flavor, more than i was expecting, along with quite a bit of grain. More bready malt along with lemon and toasted malt. Some grassy hops but they are buried far in the background along with a light bitterness. Moderately sticky mouthfeel with a little bit of lingering chalkyness. Overall, I do like this beer but feel the sweetness could be toned down just a bit. Drinkability is somewhat limited by this but I could still put back a few of these.
