Abita Golden is a crisp, clean continental lager. Just four ingredients is all it takes: American malt, Mt. Hood hops, German lager yeast and pure Abita spring water. As the name applies, Abita Golden has a brilliant gold color.

A- Pours a yellow and the foam cling fizzles away to a thin ring around the glass as well as light foam covering most of the surface. S- Smells like green apple, and fresh grains. T- A hint of wet cardboard. Definitely leans more toward the malts since there are barely any hops to be found. AT - Good balance at the end.

12 oz. bottle. Pours clear golden with a lasting ring of film of cream. Nose is buttered popcorn, caramel and a bit of dry grass. Tastes of sweet toasted maize, squash and a bit of dry grass. Medium body is too sweet, but has a nice smooth, low-medium carbonation.

Low carbonation and a straw colour that sits over a stewed lolly sweet taste. Quite drinkable in a sweet and rather dull way.

355ml bottle from Stewart’s Wine Company 010714. Clear amber colour with a slight white head. Not a lot happening in the aroma department and the flavour is quite grain like.

12 oz bottle from backlog notes 07/08. Pours a clear golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma and flavor had grainy malts, some sweet almost cookie like malts, grass, very light citrus, but not much else. Light bodied and forgettable.

355ml bottle. Pours a pale straw with a white head. Malty, quite neutral aroma, citrus. Dry, light bodied, low bitterness, balanced CO2. Malty, citrusy taste, quite neutral, vague hop notes, hints of cardboard. Probably refreshing on a hot day. (2014-01-31)
