Abita Grapefruit Harvest is a brilliant golden IPA with a subtle zest of grapefruit flavor and aroma that enhances the strong hop character. This bright, snappy brew is made with real Louisiana Ruby-Red grapefruits, pale, pilsner and caramel malts and cascade hops. The strong hop profile and subtle zest of grapefruit make it a good choice with grilled chicken. This brew would also pair well with ceviche or raw Louisiana oysters.

On tap at Beer Culture. Golden body with thin head. Nose is floral, grapefruit and fruits. Taste is sweet, bitter. Nice carbonation. Tart in the finish.

Restrained aroma in a hazy gold pour. Taste is dominated by the pith of grapefruit skin. While this is to be expected from the label - it is better done/more subtle in other brews (aka. Grapefruit Sculpin).

A lot of IPAs are grapefruity these days, so itís somewhat surprising to see an IPA more aggressively seeking this label. This beer is anything but aggressssive. It has a soft, sweet grapefruit approach, more like a fruit beer than a hop heavy bitter bomb.

Poured from the tap into a pint glass. The appearance is a nice murky gold with a medium sized white head. The aroma is big on grapefruit, hops and grain. The taste is a nice blend of hops and citrus, really good flavor.

Strong citrus but not overpowering. Almost no alcohol taste. Not very complex due to citrus. Solid. Would buy again. Almost lawnmower beer status. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at Beer Authority. Murky yellowish color. Grapefruit pith dominates here. Basically just grapefruit pith and some hops. Not particularly bitter, just very grapefruit heavy in general. Not bad, but pretty one dimensional.

Poured a semi hazy orange with a white head. Aroma was earthy hops and grapefruit rind. Flavor similar, overly bitter and rind more than juice.

Appearance: cloud medium gold with a short, short-lived off-white head, patchy lacing. (3/5) Aroma: grapefruit, bready malt, stone and tropical fruit. (7/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate bitter, mild tart. (7/10) Palate: medium-light body, moderate-low carbonation, off-dry lightly tart finish. (3/5) I might be a touch generous with my rating here, but Iím a sucker for a grapefruit IPA. That said, Iíd like this more if there were more of it. I can see the argument for subtlety, but I donít tend to be a subtle kind of guy. More is always better, right? Good fun, if not great. (13/20)
