COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abita Grapefruit Harvest is a brilliant golden IPA with a subtle zest of grapefruit flavor and aroma that enhances the strong hop character. This bright, snappy brew is made with real Louisiana Ruby-Red grapefruits, pale, pilsner and caramel malts and cascade hops. The strong hop profile and subtle zest of grapefruit make it a good choice with grilled chicken. This brew would also pair well with ceviche or raw Louisiana oysters.

Bottle at home in Salisbury - picked up at Stateline. Pours mostly clear orange-gold with a large, frothy white head. Whoa, yeah, lots of grapefruit juice in the aroma, perhaps some grapefruit gummy candies. Medium sweet flavor with some bready pale malts, a bit of pine, citrus rind, more grapefruit essence, faint lemon. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Moderately sweet to finish with refreshing, juicy grapefruit character, some bitter pine notes, understated pale bread, lemon, tangerine. Actually pretty decent.

[Bottle] Pours a nice orange color with a small white head on top. Aroma of grapefruit zest and lighter malts. More of a juicy compared to a hoppy nose. Taste is of grapefruit, blood orange, mild pine, residual sugars and floral notes. Overall not particularly hoppy, or the hops are at least overshadowed by the grapefruit juice. Effervescent and dry. I’m sure the masses will love this beer this summer. Not terrible if you like beer as well.

Fruit or ipa? The grapefruit dominates the aroma. The pour is light amber w/ a nice white head that leaves some lacing. The taste is an interesting blend of grapefruit & hops. I’ll give it props for originality!

Hazy light pink tinted bronzed and copper coloured body with a nice two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of very resinous hops, grass, herbs, grapefruit of course, but the dankest of hops noticeable. Medium-bodied; Assertive aggressive hop bitterness coupled with a definite grapefruit juice bitterness shows well up front but is fairly one-sided, there isn’t much after all the bitterness and mouth puckering. Aftertaste is nice with a definite fruity kick coupled with the pungent and relatively earthy, herbal notes coming from the hops. Overall, a nice and one-dimensional beer with the hops joining well for a bitterness attack alongside the grapefruit. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle (stubby, Abita style, no twist off though) purchased from World Market in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 22-February-2014 for US$1.99 sampled at home in Washington on 18-May-2014.

12oz bottle, a decent ipa overall, the grapefruit flavors do nothing to enhance the flavors. Mild, thin, decent for the summer.

Bottle:   A pithy beer with definite pink grapefruit like flavors.   Hops are minor.   Feels like a Grapefruit Harvest Pale Ale.   Light, pale, pithy with soft grapefruit flavor.   Pretty clean, just a light example for an IPA.   Not a lot of hop flavor, well bitterness at least.   Mild, but decent.

Pours a thin head on a cloudy straw colored body. The aroma is faint grapefruit. The taste has a strong grapefruit bitter start which mellows out to sweet and malt balance in the middle to finish. The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation. The lack of smell was a letdown but the grapefruit (from real grapefruit) flavor was nice.

Hazy pale gold color with nearly no head and little lacing. Aroma is very nice- fruity, lemony and hoppy. Flavor is sweet with tropical fruits at first with a bitter finish. Okay overall

Well, when I bot this I was thinken it would be some fruity sweeter grapefruit thing like I got from Schöfferhofer germany a few times. However, this turned out to be a typical domesticated chewing on green grapefruit rinds on top of bitter grapefruit pulp ipa thing. Smells like a typical dull ipa. What else can be said. Simply another IPA that is a member of a style almost as numerous as dull pale lager, heheheh. There you have it. Yes an ipa that is terribly on style plus a little bitter grapefruit bullshit. So now I see it says IPA on the label, missed that. Finish is typical bitter IPA but perhaps not as long as a double ipa. Fortunately there is some co2 on the tongue to keep it almost interesting. OK, tell me I was fooled or simply glamorously uninformed? Go figger mufahthah.

12oz bottle poured into my ipa glass. Pours a golden Orange color with a pillowy white head that leaves great lacing. Smells of grapefruit, pine, caramel and resin. Tastes of the same things in the smell with a bready malt flavor as well. Mouthfeel is oily and watery with light carbonation and a semi dry finish. Great grapefruit flavor but that’s about it. As an ipa it’s pretty basic. Worth a try if you like the more grapefruit forward flavor ipas.
