I pretty much agree with johndo2000. Last time I visited the brew we also went to the pub. I tried it for the first time and was happy and disappointed. Happy that I was drinking a good beer from my state, and sad that I'd have to drive all the way from Houma to drink it again

Abita Imperial Stout pours to a deep ebony color with a dense, creamy tan head and a soft carbonation. The nose is just jam packed with aromas. Waves of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, roast, piney hops, and peppery alcohol flood the nose. The palate is rich and heavy on the tongue with big, robust malt flavors. Flavors of dark chocolate, espresso, and a nice underpinning of licorice and vanilla coat the tongue. Abita Imperial Stout finishes with more big chocolate and espresso flavors up front, then ends with a piney hop and warming, soothing burn.
Wow. This is a very impressive version of Imperial Stout, stylistically very accurate, and more importantly, very delicious. I enjoyed this beer as a desert after my meal at Abita, but this beer would make a fantastic desert beer. When in Louisiana? Warm bread pudding with bourbon sauce. What else! If you ever find yourself in the New Orleans area, take the one hour journey on the causeway over Lake Ponchatrain, and visit the Abita Brewpub in Abita Springs, LA.

A MOST impressive stout. Took about ten minutes to poor (litterally), but worth every sip. Unfortunately it is only available at the Abita Brew Pub.
Very sweet and chocolaty taste. Fills you up quite quickly.
Heavy body and very malty. Make your way to abita springs to try it. It was formerly called the Jocomo stout, but it’s name has since been changed (along with a few changes to the recipee)
