2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 mcjay (438) - Neenah, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 12, 2012
This tastes like a cross between an IPA and a red ale. The over hopping of your typical IPA is balanced out by the grainy presence. It still has the piney and citrus notes you’d expect but the body is a bit lighter than usual. Overall it’s rather smooth and crisp. Not bad at all.
3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 thicksuds (247) - Massachusetts, USA - FEB 12, 2012
Decent IPA, very fruity, wouldn’t say it is a top tier but still enjoyable nonetheless.
2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 7/20 StephLJensen (7) - California, USA - FEB 7, 2012 does not count
Aroma: bread, cereal, a little earthy
Appearance: Great color, rich amber
Taste: lightly sweet, more malt than hops, a weird earthiness that I haven’t experienced in an IPA before, however not a very welcome flavor
Palate: medium body, slightly sticky, long finish but leaves an undesirable aftertaste
Overall: Not very impressed, I know my palate is used to more west coast IPAs but this one lacks a lot of citrus qualities I enjoy and has almost a spiced mushroom flavor that hits my tongue at first
2.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Onslow (639) - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA - FEB 5, 2012
Pour from a 12 oz bottle. SLightly hazy orange brew with nice off white head. Good head retention. Aroma is notable and not particularly good - some citrust hops and some odd odors reminiscent of farmhouse ales. Overall, an unpleasant impression. Taste is very much hops forward with a citrus / astringent profile starting at the begining of the sip, but the same farmhouse flavors emerg at the end of the swallow. Maybe this is infected with a wild yeast. Maybe it is spoiled but there is nothing lactic or vegetal, the carbonation seems normal, the palate is not all watery and no sediment - so it does not fit the spoiled beer profile. Just an off putting flavor, misplaced spiciness or untasty hops. Or maybe spoiled. I dunno - don’t like it and glad I only got two in the sampler pack.

Bottle - pours orange with a head that disappeared quickly and also had some lacing to it. I immediately noticed a piney smell and taste to it. Good but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to have another one.
3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Gooney (273) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 31, 2012
UPDATED: FEB 9, 2012 12 oz bottle - Pours orange with a healthy white head. Not much aroma at all, actually. What I can barely sense is a floral hops. Tastes very light. Overall, this beer is OK. Nothing great, nothing terrible. It’s kind of like the boring guy who lives down the hall that comes over to hang out sometimes. You don’t mind it if he’s there, but you don’t miss him if he’s not there.
3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 joshmcg000 (86) - Iowa, USA - JAN 24, 2012
Pours hazy amber with fluffy white head. Aroma is pine and floral hops, and citrus. Taste is toffee, and piney hops with some citrus. Lots of spice to it also. Good, but fairly average IPA with some english ale taste to it.
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 kaser (105) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 15, 2012
Aroma? I couldn’t smell anything? I don’t have a cold either. Poured a dark orange with little to no head. No date on the botltle so not sure how old it is, but I’ve had IPA’s a year old that still taste good, this did not. Boring slinky flavor. Not too hoppy, not much aftertaste. Blah
