williamherbert (461), Syracuse, New York, USA Nov 8, 2009 Glowing copper-orange color with a big ice cream float head. Tons of carbonation. Looks other-worldly. Thick lace; head sticks around for a good long time.
A rich and buttery sweet malt smell, topped by a flowery perfum of hops. The malt is roasted but not burnt or bitter. Excellent, beautifully balanced.
Taste is perfumey, piney-as-hell hop taste. A tad sour from the hops, but not unpleasant. Strong hops, malt is almost undetectable. It’s a fine flavor, but very hop-intensive. Bitter and woody, wish it had a bit more sweetness or burnt malt to even it out.
Bubbly and effervescent feel. Thick and creamy and even moreso as it warms. Very drinkable, though more bitter than expected. Unbalanced but a nice beverage nonetheless.
garthicus (1216), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 4, 2009 Appearance: Amber brown with a reasonable sized orange head. Aroma: Somewhat caramel, mild hops, it seems that it may be a little old, some ginger, lemon and yeast, the hops are there but fighting to get through. Flavour: Initially a lot of malt, then the caramel and hops follow through, quite a sticky mouth feel, like the rater below says - it’s a bit of a muddle. Not bad though, just confusing. beersearcher (206), Glendale, California, USA Oct 26, 2009 a bit of a muddle. DIPA taste. Amber color. not bad but not different from other IPA’s out there. fata2683 (841), Panama City, Florida, USA Oct 25, 2009 bottle, pours light amber with a medium off white head. Hop soup aroma. Nicely balanced toasted malt and bittersweet hop finish. Easy drinker. checkmatei1 (630), Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 15, 2009 Bottle: Poured a orange amber with a nice head. The aroma was grapefruit and pine. The flavor was grapefruit, pine, hops and malts. overall, a very drinkable IPA. Foxbush (452), Richmond, Virginia, USA Oct 3, 2009 This was a micro beer offred at the Navy Air Force game on 10/3/09. The IPa was excellent. It had a wonderful nose of grapefruit. The balanced hops and malt were good. It sure beat the light beers in the iced barrel. The alcohol was just right for IPA.The IPA had a smooth finish. It is IPA for a football game not to heavy and balanced for the beer drinker. JAF737300 (791), Tampa, Florida, USA Oct 3, 2009 A nice amber pour with muted fruit notes on the nose. The hops stays away until the lingering finish shows its depth. I catch different notes of fruit on the palate (a fruit salad). JoeinUccle (902), Brussels, Belgium Sep 30, 2009 From 12 oz bottle in a bar at the Atlanta airport. Decent beige head over a bright and clear orange-tinted-amber liquid. Bright, fruity nose -- notes of tropical fruit punch and grapefruit zest. Mildly sweet malty center forms juicy impression with fruity hop flavor, going fairly bitter toward the end. Surprisingly clean aftertaste. Bright and refreshing IPA, if nothing flashy.
