3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Jow (778) - New York, USA - AUG 26, 2010
On tap at Stags Head. For some reason they gave me a head of hops to through in my beer. it didn’t really do anything but whatever. Pours amber and tastes of caramel malt. a tad fruity with a dry finish. not too bad start to the evening
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Aquilo (458) - Berkeley, California, USA - AUG 21, 2010
Clear golden brown color with a small rocky head. Aroma has some citrus/pine hops, but caramel malts dominate. Flavor is mildly bitter, with more of the caramel malts coming through. The malty nature is unexpected, but not unwelcome. Overall, this is a satisfying beer.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 hoptimist (99) - Portland, Oregon, USA - AUG 16, 2010
Subtle aromas at best. Hard to pick anything obvious out but maybe a bit of caramel malt sweetness and a touch of grassy hop presence. Amber-gold, very clear with no visible carbonation except for the head which has decent retention and is off-white tan in color and leaves a little lacing. Taste is medium caramel malt sweetness balanced with a medium grassy-floral hop bitterness. Medium body with a slick texture, medium carbonation and a reasonably long bitter finish. Bitter on attack, some sweet maltiness briefly coming through the middle. Not a bad IPA but not a great one either. But this is coming from a hophead in the Northwest so you may want to factor that in.

Nice amber color with hop and malt aroma, nothing really special about this IPA but one of the better Abita’s I’ve had.

BB9/10 alc 6.5 Pours a deep amber, about a 1" head. Cream colored head w/ tight bubbles, nice lace. Almost no nose. Good mouth feel, unexpected sweetness in the center. there i a bitter malt flavor that I find common to Abita beers. The hops are very subtle for an IPA, but show up nicely late in the finish. Good beginer IPA, not in your face, and hides the alcohol well. altogether pleasant

Bottle-Pour a large froathy head that left some lacing. Solid burnt orange with a slight floral aroma. Nice hoppy favoring that didn’t overwhelm with toffee undertones. Round, not bitter finish. Produce Place 1.49
