COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The newest Abita brew takes its name and inspiration from the Mardi Gras Indians of New Orleans. Looking for Indians on Mardi Gras Day is a tradition for many New Orleans families. A cultural phenomenon familiar to residents of the Crescent City, the Mardi Gras Indians are not well known to outsiders and Abita is proud to help share their story with the world.

Not a bad rendition of an American IPA! Full of flavor (honey, grapefruit, orange), aromatic and darned good to look at (and drank!!). I can see a lot of future pairings of this brew and some blackened catfish or other spicy meals that I like to cook up! Easy to drink and not filling by any stretch. Serve it up as cold as you can get it but the flavors do intensify as the brew warms up.

Pours a clear amber with a thick, long lasting head. Aroma is surprisingly malty. The taste is much the same. Very little hoppyness, almost no bitterness. How this qualifies as an IPA is beyond me. But this is still a tasty beer, just not as hoppy as I had hoped.

Pours orangish with a light tan head. Aromas of sweet malts and citrusy hops. The flavor is a malty sweetness with a moderate citrus hop presence. The finish is slightly bitter/metallic. Overall drinkable but not great.

12oz bottle from Pick’s poured into a shaker. Pours a cloudy orange with 1 finger of light tan head. Aroma of citrus and pine hops. Taste is lightly bitter. Medium bodied with a creamy and sticky texture. Lively carbonation and a bitter finish. Overall, not too bad. Wouldn’t seek it out but would possibly drink it again.

Malty, fruity taste with notes of orange peel, dried apricots, toast and earthy hops. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Nice and tasty.

Clear copper, quickly dissipating head. Aroma is sweet caramel malt and pine resin. Light bodied. Flavor is cloyingly sweet malt at first, then a nice bitter middle, and a well balanced finish. The hop flavors lean towards herbal and pine resin. Average all around.
