COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The newest Abita brew takes its name and inspiration from the Mardi Gras Indians of New Orleans. Looking for Indians on Mardi Gras Day is a tradition for many New Orleans families. A cultural phenomenon familiar to residents of the Crescent City, the Mardi Gras Indians are not well known to outsiders and Abita is proud to help share their story with the world.

Copper/amber with very nice lacing and a thick off-white head. This us a great looking ale. It has a hoppy nose w/ pine resin and floral notes dominating. Lightly carbonated and a little oily making thus seem heavier, almost cloying, like I’d expect from a sweeter beer. There’s ample hops throughout; however, and it has fairly dry and short, finish. A very good IPA that is not over-the-top w/ bitterness.

bottle poured into tulip. Beautiful head, thin lacing, deep amber. smells of pine and flowers. Taste grapefruit, dandelion, spruce, (rubber?) bubbly mouth oily hop feel. Plenty hoppy. I’m not a hop-nut, this is very nice and drinkable.

Oddly filtered for an IPA while the aroma is slightly muted for an IPA. The flavor is of pine and grapefruit with some maltiness lingering. Not a very complex or over-the-top IPA, but solid enough to be decent.

I love this "IPA" true, it’s not as hoppy as a "California style" IPA. But I like the complex flavors it offers over a robust hop.

Deep amber with an off-white head. Weak aroma of floral hops, malt and pine. Taste is more malty that expected for an IPA but the bitter comes in at the end.

barnyard & grass on the nose. I had this on draft in a pint glass. Really strange flavor, not an IPA that I would want to seek out. Lots of pine flavor near the end. Not the best.

Bottle at home. Very balanced, not as bitter as many IPAs, very enjoyable.

A solid IPA that is a little more malty than one might expect from an IPA. The hops are slightly subdued. It seems to be a touch to thin in the mouth for my tastes, but overall a decent beer.
