COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The newest Abita brew takes its name and inspiration from the Mardi Gras Indians of New Orleans. Looking for Indians on Mardi Gras Day is a tradition for many New Orleans families. A cultural phenomenon familiar to residents of the Crescent City, the Mardi Gras Indians are not well known to outsiders and Abita is proud to help share their story with the world.

GuilTTy (686) - Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA - JUL 10, 2011
Bottle from Total Wine and More in Cherry Hill, NJ. Medium amber pour with a short tan head. Aroma of toasted nuts and a whiff of lemon. Some citrusy hops here, biscuit malt there, touch of toffee. Slightly thin texture and a weak finish. Just seems as though this is an IPA in search of itself.

redlight (2209) - Winter Park, Florida, USA - JUL 9, 2011
Pine resin on the nose with some tropical fruit notes. Pours a pale gold with a thin white head. Earthy bitterness upfront with pine coming through. This beer seems very heavy on the bittering hops but not much of flavoring hops. But all in all a solid IPA.

Not good. Flavored loudly but not with hops. Underwhelming. Malty but yucky does not compliment this IPA.

The beer pours a slightly hazy amber color with an off-white head. The aroma is a mix of bready malt with some pine notes mixed in. The beer also has an iced tea aroma. The flavor is a mix of pine and orange citrus hops with some toffee notes. Low bitterness. Thin, slightly watery mouthfeel and low to medium carbonation.

Chipalsa (482) - Florida, USA - JUN 21, 2011
Poured a little darker than usual for an IPA; Orange, a little foggy, and a very thin head. Smelled ripe and zesty, with sharp hop notes and bitter citrus. The taste wasn’t as the smell assumed, but the hoppiness was still pretty bitter. Undertones of pine, sweet citrus and caramel were pleasing on the palate. The finish was malty and spicy, with a dry mouthfeel. Pretty good, just not spot on for an IPA.

12 ounce bottle, pours a hazy orange/amber color with an off white head and hoppy aroma. Flavors of fruity/citrusy malt with a slight bitter finish.

On draft at Hoptomic 2011. Pours clear orange amber with a white head. Nose is some caramel with pine and citrus. Flavor is similar. Light to medium in body and mostly unremarkable.
