COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The newest Abita brew takes its name and inspiration from the Mardi Gras Indians of New Orleans. Looking for Indians on Mardi Gras Day is a tradition for many New Orleans families. A cultural phenomenon familiar to residents of the Crescent City, the Mardi Gras Indians are not well known to outsiders and Abita is proud to help share their story with the world.

A golden amber IPA with a thin lacing off white head. A smooth caramel with light hops and strawberry notes. In mouth, a nice malt base with caramel, very subdued hops, but not an IPA. On tap at J.Ryan’s, August 2010.

Bottle poured a clear tarnished copper with a lasting amber head. Aromas of carmel, earthiness and fruittiness. Palate was medium boidied and smooth with a lightly dry finish. Flavors of carmel, earthiness and light pine with a smooth dry moderatly bitter finish. More of a pale ale in my opinion, try again Abita.

Aroma is average malt (bread, grain, meal), average hops (flowers, pine, citrus), light yeast (sweat) with notes of peach. Light bodied, thin texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.

Bottle... Clear, brilliant golden ale with a small, creamy, white head. Good retention. Biscuity, citrusy aroma with lesser notes of pine and honey. Medium-bodied and mildly chewy with prickly carbonation. Leans just a hair on the bitter side of balance. Lengthy, mildly bitter, dry finish. A well-balanced, nicely crafted, PNW style IPA. A very pleasant surprise, this one.

daknole (9437) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - OCT 1, 2008
bottle from total wine. Orange color wtih an off white head. Aroma is sweet and sticky for an IPA. Taste is watery, too sweet and too malty. This one would be so much better with some more hops. This one is overrated IMO.
