2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 daknole (5841) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - OCT 1, 2008
bottle from total wine. Orange color wtih an off white head. Aroma is sweet and sticky for an IPA. Taste is watery, too sweet and too malty. This one would be so much better with some more hops. This one is overrated IMO.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Ughsmash (5817) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 20, 2008
Bottled. Poured clear medium caramel with a light cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up juicy grapefruit and assorted candies with some caramel, floral, and lighter fruity notes.. very sweet overall and not bad. The flavor had sticky light fruit and toffee sweetness with low-to-moderate citrusy bitterness.. OK balance, but not really good on any front. Just shy of medium-bodied.. tacky, bitter finish.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jerc (5580) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 19, 2008
2008-08-16. Orange boy with a small cream coloured head. (3+) Muted aroma has brief grainy character. Flavour of rough grains, resin and light bitterness. Muddled. Average palate. Meh. Better than suggested by my notes but didn’t offer enough to warrant much attention in a crowd of IPAs. Bottle, Coles IPA Festival, Buffalo

Bottle is very trippy. Amber, sweet fruit scent, diminishing in the flavor of the beer itself, hops, lemon. decent.

Bottle: Caramel color, light head and lacing. Nose of caramel, pine and orange, light grapefruit. The flavor is full bodied, light hops, decent finish. Respectable.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Radek Kliber (5305) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - OCT 30, 2008
Bottle 355 ml
Appearance: black tea like with hint of amber , large fair top , some lace shown 4- Nose: Brown and crystal malts with hint of caramel , black tea , British hops blended with west coast , sweet fruity end. Flavor/Palate : Medium bodied. Cookie dough like, sweet with bitterness covered in caramel vanilla sweets. Creamy textured, not as drinkable as it could be. Abita went different path than traditional IPA , not sure if it was intended.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Cornfield (5277) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - JAN 4, 2008
I only picked up a single 12 oz. bottle, but this one may actually merit a return visit despite my mediocre rating. (I began by not expecting too much from Abita.) It pours a pale, clear amber body with a respectable head. Unfortunately, that doesn’t last a long time. The aroma has a soft caramel sweetness heavily covered by hoppy notes of zest of lemon and grapefruit. The flavor begins quietly with sweet, sugary malt. Then the hops take over, not overtly aggressive, but sturdy enough to impress me with their flavorful bitterness. A touch of resinous pine and some floral bitterness are added to the aforementioned hop sensations. Nice moderate, prolonged bitter finish.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Drake (5229) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - DEC 20, 2007
Bottle. Pours muddy orange-ish brown, thin head, good lacing. Aroma of toffee and straightforward hops. Good balance of malt and hops.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 DruncanVeasey (5136) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - JUN 14, 2009
Louisianan #1, courtesy of Ma Jenner. Pours brilliant copper with a fine white collar breaking down into clumps. Mellow floral aroma with Turkish delight, lychee and passion fruit. Sweetened iced tea flavour with orange, rose, sweet potato, cardboard, fish and chip batter and buttery shortbread notes. Feeble IPA, but still something likeable, flat, buttery and English about it. Yep, an amateurish pasteurised English bitter of about 4.5% trying to taste US-influenced. Needs the hops turning WAY up.
