Just lacked any depth, soul, or ooooomph... As good as any house IPA, but not anything more.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 pchiodo (27) - Barrie, CANADA - SEP 3, 2010
Deep, clear copper with a nice lasting head. Flavor is specialty malt based. Palate is smooth and medium-bodied, Unique flavor take on the style that I really appreciate.

Being generous on this rating. The weakness and the lack of good IPA flavors makes it a no sale for me.

Hazy orange color with a longer lasting off-white head. Citrus and caramel nose. Not a really hoppy IPA.

Another great offering from Abita. Why can’t they have the courage to make all their beers this good. Great color, nice aroma, really a nice pale ale. They should stick to what they do well, because other than turbodog, and this, they do not impress me.

Bottle into a pint glass. Floral hops aroma. Has a bit of a bitter taste on the first taste bit the hops comes in at the end which is a little strange for most IPAs I have had. i also taste a deep roasted malt undertone at the end. Not sure I like it in an IPA. Kind of kills the ending. Not a bad beer, but not breaking my top 20 list.

UPDATED: FEB 3, 2010 This is what I said the first time I rated this beer. "I’m a big Abita fan but not really a big IPA fan but I thought I’d give it a shot. It poured nice and looks great but has the aroma of a Christmas Tree farm. I know that is to be expected from an IPA but this seemed overly sprucy. The flavor was like drinking pine needle soup."
Now I’m not going to go out and start chugging IPA’s but I recently thought I’d try this again because it was rated so high in Draft and it came in a party pack I had recently. I stand corrected. This is a good beer. Very similar in taste to an english bitter which I love. I really enjoyed this the 2nd time around.

The Jockamo is one the only Abita beers I enjoy. It’s hoppy and relatively heavy in body, unlike their other lines.
