On tap at Sunset Grill on multiple occasions. A very ruddy, amber-orange colored beer, with a small white head. Clear. A shot of cascade-like hoppiness is felt first in the nose, but is quickly followed and drowned out by a wallop of sweet, fat, sticky malts that are much to caramelly and syrupy for me. The flavor is surprisingly a bit more dry and allows more hoppiness, or really just mostly bitterness, but its somewhat more balanced in the flavor than in the aroma. That is, until the beer begins to warm, when toffee, caramel and unfermented sugars blast through and make an utter mess of the beer. Sharp, brutal hops and alcohol dominate the sugary finish. Medium bodied. No thanks.

At GBBF 2014. Clear deep amber colour lasting beige head. Toffee grapefruit american ipa aroma. Ok bitterness. A little lacking in the malt depth. Some crystalline toffee flavour. It’s fine. Not too exciting but competent enough. Quite like the slightly toast bitter finish. Ok.

Bottle at GBBF 2014. It pours clear amber with a decent white head. The nose is toasty, leather, varnish, dull caramel and stone fruits. The taste is bitter, earth, leather, varnish, pine needles and citrus peel with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Ok.

Pour is amber. Aroma is fantastic floral, malt, and grass. More malt than expected, not enough umph from the hops.

Nice amber coloured and almost clear. Has a hoppy aroma, citrus and fatty malts. Flavor is hoppy with more thick malty structure. Bitter finish.

Kind of a run of the mill ipa. Decent copper pour w/ a quickly fading tan head that leaves spotty lacing. The aroma has an adequate amount of hops to draw some interest. The flavor is slightly hoppy & bitter but finishes rather clean. It’s a little thin on the palate but goes down easily. Everything screams average here!

Bottle from Breeze Thru with a best by 7/20/2014 date. Pours an amber orange with many fine bubbles and a cakey yellow-ish head. Lotta streaky lacing. Aroma has sour fruits, stone fruits, bread and some floral hops. Later down in the glass, some light pine and some biscuity malts show up. Taste is of sweet fruits, spicy pine, some tangy herbalness, some lemon and some toffee. A bit rough. Medium bodied and fairly highly carbonated. Finishes with a muddle of bitter and sweet. Very little clean about this one. 12.8

Transfer from BA review on 5-13-12- Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance – Pours a golden –orange color with a two finger off white-orange tinted head. The head has very nice retention, but eventually fades leaving light lacing. Smell – A sweet fruity and malty aroma of bread and citrus hop are the base of the smell. The citrus is of both tangerine sweet as well as some grapefruit notes. Behind these aromas is a lighter pine aroma and a little bit of caramel. Overall quite a nice smell. Taste – The taste follows the nose well. A malty sweetness with caramel and bready flavors start out the taste. These are soon meet with a citrus tangerine flavor. Toward the middle of the taste it bitters more as tastes of pine work their way to the forefront. This pine, in the end, mixed with a light grapefruit and earthy hop to finish off the taste, leaving a rather odd bitterness on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body is just above normal with a just below average level of carbonation. It is fitting for the style, although a little more body and a little higher carbonation may suit respectively the sweet malt and bitter citrus a little better. Overall – Not a bad IPA, but not the greatest either. It had a very nice aroma and the taste starts out good, but at the end the hop flavors don’t seem to go tougher too well.
