COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The newest Abita brew takes its name and inspiration from the Mardi Gras Indians of New Orleans. Looking for Indians on Mardi Gras Day is a tradition for many New Orleans families. A cultural phenomenon familiar to residents of the Crescent City, the Mardi Gras Indians are not well known to outsiders and Abita is proud to help share their story with the world.

this might be the worst IPA i have ever tasted. bought it tonight for $1.89 a single bottle at a store in small town texas. it was worth about $0.89. zero nose. could barely detect beer in the nose. the appearance suggested hard lagers or the red-headed step-sister of age-old schiltz. nothing bold or light refracting. the palate ran thin, emotionless, juliette lewis performance in CHRISTMAS VACATION. aftertaste yielded the slightest hint of hops though not enough to truly indicate what flavor profile. maybe burnt? maybe dead pine? not sure. funny thing: i like abita. i like their turbodog, purple haze and draft root beer. still, they did not impress me with this IPA. thanks, but not thanks. i need my buck-eighty back.

Pretty good IPA that is a bit sweet to go along with the hops. Good to try, probably wouldn't have if again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle split at GBBF ’14, day 1, 12/08/14. Very lightly hazed golden amber. Nose is caramel malt, spice, orange pith, grapefruit vibes. Taste comprises toasted malt, pine cloak, grapefruit, spice, bread dough, caramel malt. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with lightly skunked hop notes. Ok IPA.

Attractive copper golden with tan head. Aroma is sweet with some tropical fruits. Flavor is a bit disappointing. Sugary sweet up front some bitterness some grassy hops. Finish is a bit sweet with a hint of a corn flavor.

GBBF Day 1. Bottle share. Lightly hazy amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry and crispy. Caramel malts, little cream. Mild marmalade hops and hop spice. Touch of ripe orange. Dry finish. Okay.

At GBBF 2014. Clear deep amber colour lasting beige head. Toffee grapefruit american ipa aroma. Ok bitterness. A little lacking in the malt depth. Some crystalline toffee flavour. It’s fine. Not too exciting but competent enough. Quite like the slightly toast bitter finish. Ok.

Bottle at GBBF 2014. It pours clear amber with a decent white head. The nose is toasty, leather, varnish, dull caramel and stone fruits. The taste is bitter, earth, leather, varnish, pine needles and citrus peel with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Ok.

Pour is amber. Aroma is fantastic floral, malt, and grass. More malt than expected, not enough umph from the hops.
