xav33 (313), Midland, MI, Michigan, USA Aug 4, 2006 Abita Light
12 oz bottle
Recent bottling, gulped 08/30
Medium pour in a pilsner glass
Poured hay colored with a 1/8 inch white fully diminishing head, with a clear sparkling body.
Smelt of sweet corny malt, no hops.
Taste was corn malt that sweetens then finishes short and watery. Mouthfeel was carbonated and light.
Overall, a beer that may seem like a microbrew but has no true distinction from most commercial light beers.
MrBunn (948), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 21, 2008 Bottle. So this is the last part of a slummin’ with light beers night. Pour is a little darker (yellow) than the previous ratings, but head is virtually nonexistent. Aromas are a robust mix of straw and grain (well, by robustI mean for the company this keeps.) Flavor is an annoyingly sweet mix of malt and straw... not even grass, but that sweet and obnoxious smell you get from an old bale of slightly wet straw. Still, in comparison with some of its AB peers, this is a best in class for the night. I won’t be back ever again, but my Abita Light experience wasn’t completely awful. oldrtybastrd (1793), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA Oct 30, 2008 Pours a light golden yellow color. Aromas of straw/grains. Not much else. No body, watery. My (Miller Lite Loving) friends I was having lunch with loved it. Trev (600), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA Sep 19, 2008 Pale gold pour with a thin white head.
Smells grainy, tastes grainy and watery, slightly skunky.
nqualls (573), Tennessee, USA Sep 13, 2008 Really thought this would be better than the ABC light beers. It wasn’t. Absolutely terrible. phishpond417 (1520), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jul 20, 2008 Not much for light beers. This pours a bright golden colour with a moderately sized white head. Light in malty character, well balanced, soft hop character in the finish.
