2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Poured reddish amber with white head...smelled only malts...the rest of my rating I could just ditto Lumpy’s rating for the most part...but I found the hops...they are the bitterness mixed in with the thick vomitous like aftertaste...no offense, but dumb cajuns...

2.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Dark amber body with a pretty foamy two finger head. Very nice pour. Too bad the taste doesn’t match the looks. Tastes very, very much like straw. I mean a whole lot like straw. As a matter of fact, this is the most hay tasting brew on earth. Like the old lady in the Wendy’s commercial used to say: "Where’s the hops?" It’s not that this is bad, it is just that it tastes too much like straw to really enjoy.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUN 27, 2006 The hoppiest of the Abitas, this is one sweet drink. Rich red coloring with solid carbonation and a respectable if short lived head, it has a good, tart aroma. There’s a pleasantly bitter mouthfeel with a full malty flavor. Clean aftertaste. Too bad it’s a seasonal brew.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Creamy off-white head, copper colored body. Sweet malty and caramelly aroma. Little weak but nice. Thin in the flavor, little toffee and nut. Drinkable but nothing special.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Attractive copper color topped with a nicely retained off white head, things started well from an appearance point of view. The aroma is is lightly hoppy, akin to say a Czech pils or something. Flavor is pretty much consistent with the aroma, flavors are fairly muted and include some graininess and light hoppiness. Decent brew, but not to be pursued at any great lengths.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
light red color with a tan head sweet berry aroma. taste is disapointing. hops and alcohol are the dominate flavor. a more earthy finish. this is nothing to write home about.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Clear amber with a moderate bone colored head. Sweet malt aroma with a touch of dry grassand caramel. Dry grainy flavors. Reminds me of a mix of barley, corn, oats and molasass that we would feed the cows at milking time. Light lasting bitterness at the finish coupled with a touch of sweetness.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
crisp and dry, I did not sense a big or noticiable hop presence. I found it slightly metallic not up to turbo dog standards

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Almost no aroma, but some caramel and grain. Spicy, dry going a little tinny. Medium hopping. Spicy , dry finish. Very light brown with fizzy head. This did very well with the great pork loin sandwich and brown mustard at the Abita Brewpub. Some alcohol edge and unknown hop (Cascade, Centennial?) evident in the finish.
