Commercial Description:
It may sound nuts, but most ales with nutty flavors or aromas are made without any real nuts. Abita Pecan Harvest Ale is made with real Louisiana pecans. The natural oils from the nuts give the ale a light pecan finish and aroma. It's wonderful paired up with both red meats and seafood - and no suprise it's great with nuts too. Abita Pecan Harvest Ale, crack one open for yourself today.

Appearance: Pours a clear amber body with a small, short-lived white head. Smell: Aroma of toasted biscuits, a pinch of cloves, caramel, and only a mild (and I do mean mild) hint of pecans. Taste: Dry, crumbly, toasted biscuit flavor with a very subdued caramel sweetness. Lightly spicy hoppiness. A dry, toasted nutty bitterness rises in the finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation. Watery texture. Drinkability: Altogether dull and dreary. I’ve gotten stronger nuttier flavors from non-nut beers. Even as I finish drinking this beer, the thumb points... down!

Nice light-amber pour with a full head and some lacing. Lots of nutty aromas, some chocolate malt and some mild spicing. Pretty light palate, vacant finish. Notes of almond, pecan, whole grain bread and corn. Overall, drinkable and nice for the season, but a far cry from fest beers.

Nutty aroma, Strong nut taste. Actually tastes and feels more like a brown ale than an amber ale. One of the best aftertastes I’ve experienced in a beer. Thoroughly enjoyed this

Not a strong aroma to me. Looks nice. This is pretty good. Nutty and malty up front witha bit of bite in the finish. Just seems to be too light. The flavor would be better if it were more pronounced.

Bottle. Pours amber with an off-white head that settled quickly to a ring. Sweet aroma of caramel backed with nuts. The flavor finds caramel, toffee, and some light pecans. Light body, sweet throughout and a tingly carbonation.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear orangish amber body with a fizzy light beige head. Lots of carbonation. The nose is sweet and fruity with lots of honey and caramel malt. I can smell a bit of actual pecan, but I have to use my imagination a bit. There’s certainly a good bit of pecan flavor though. Lots of sweet caramel and brown sugar, it’s very reminiscent of gooey pecan pie. Rather short finish with just a touch of bitterness. The body is medium with a good bit of residual sugars. This would actually be a bit cloying were it not for the aggressive prickly carbonation that cuts through the sweetness well. Kind of a gimmick beer, but I think I like it.
