COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It may sound nuts, but most ales with nutty flavors or aromas are made without any real nuts. Abita Pecan Harvest Ale is made with real Louisiana pecans. The natural oils from the nuts give the ale a light pecan finish and aroma. It’s wonderful paired up with both red meats and seafood - and no suprise it’s great with nuts too. Abita Pecan Harvest Ale, crack one open for yourself today.

Bottle. Amber pour with small head. Hint of nutty aroma but not overpowering. Very thin, nothing bold about this offering. Dissapointed.

Transfer from BA review on 9-6-13- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a nice deep copper color with a tiny fizzy off white head. A little bit of a reddish hue shines through the brew when held up to the light. The head fades very fast leaving only some spots of foam on the top of the brew with a couple big bubbles seen floating atop the surface. Smell – The aroma is sweet with lots of caramel and some toffee aromas. Mixed with these are a lightly roasted malt aroma as well as some roasted pecan smells, which when mixed with the sweeter aromas, gives a light sugar roasted nut smell. It’s rather nice. Taste –The taste begins thin, with a lightly roasted malt and caramel taste. The flavors are on the moderate to lighter side with the sweetness beginning stronger in the front and fading as the time moves on, while the roasted flavors take the exact opposite transition. Along with these flavor transitions, some flavors of toast and a roasted nut flavor of pecan come to the tongue more toward the middle of the flavor profile. The nut grows stronger to the end and is joined by a light floral and earthy hop flavor to leave a thin semi-sweet roasted nutty flavor on the tongue. Mouthfeel- The body of the beer is on the lighter and thinner side with a carbonation that is a bit on the higher side. While the sweetness is nicely complemented by the thinness and higher carbonation, the roasted, malty and nutty flavors of the brew would have done much better with a thicker body and a lower carbonation. Overall –The body and flavors are a bit weak which takes the brew down a step or two, but it does have decent (but very light) flavor with some nuttiness. An alright brew but nothing special.

Pours pure copper with some reddish hues, perfectly clear. Thin light tan head, little retention. Smells sweet, musty, a little vaguely nutty. Thin, a little caramel, maybe some maple. Very little pecan showing up at the very end of the taste.

Pours a copper color with 1.5 finger head. Head dissipates to thin skim quickly. Aroma - fairly non-descript malt on nose. Taste is almost like a mild porter with only a little pecan note.

Bottle at home. Pours autumn amber. Has a decent head with medium retention and sparse lacing. Nose is candied pecans, malt, and earthy notes. Taste is earthy, with decent but not over powering pecan. The finish reminds me if Thanksgiving. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at home. Pours clear dark amber with a medium, frothy off-white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is toasted pecans, toast and caramel malt with light earthy hops. Flavor is toasted pecans, malt dominant with faint hops and bitterness and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Draught at Fest of Ales. Malty and light. Very amber in taste and color. Maybe a hint of pecan.

Reviewed from notes: pours a nice brown color with off-white/ivory head. Nuts, pecans obviously, wood, and some floral notes on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a slightly sweet note, probably from the pecans.

12oz bottle, I have to agree with others rating this beer, it is decent, not great. It does have nutty, pecan flavor, just not one I would seek out for another. It was worth the try, easy drinkable amber.

Pours amber with a thin head of light tan foam. Nose is malt and caramel. Average creaminess. Taste is mild and of lightly roasted malt, some caramel sweetness and a slightly nutty flavor. Lightly hopped. A decent beer but not outstanding. Pairs well with nuts or pretzels.
