Commercial Description:
It may sound nuts, but most ales with nutty flavors or aromas are made without any real nuts. Abita Pecan Harvest Ale is made with real Louisiana pecans. The natural oils from the nuts give the ale a light pecan finish and aroma. It’s wonderful paired up with both red meats and seafood - and no suprise it’s great with nuts too. Abita Pecan Harvest Ale, crack one open for yourself today.

Picked up at World Market. Being that the name is Pecan Harvet Ale i expected some hint of the pecan. As it is nutty i could not taste pecan. As a straight Amber it is pretty good. Rich slight malt and nuttiness. Maybe a little dryness.

12oz bottle (2009) into a pint glass. The pour is brown with a small off-white head. The taste and aroma are a weird combination of chocolate and nuttiness that is decently off-putting.

This one for some reason really roils my stomach. I don’t know if it is the pecan oil or what but it just doesn’t work for me. The taste is ok but if I am having a real nut beer, I would like to taste a little more pecan with a hearty malt backbone. This beer isn’t quite there.

Clear reddish gold with a thin ring of white head. Aroma is a bit of pumpkin pie spice and grainy astringency. Taste is a bit biscuity with a sweet spicy edge. Light bodied and clean with nice carbonation. Slight tannic sourness in finish.

Aroma of almonds more than pecans, but you can smell the nuts definitely. Flavor is very muted, mostly watery and not really flavors of pecans at all. Finish was ok. Session beer only.

Transparent amber in the glass with a very thin white head. Wonderful nutty aromas. Smooth mouthfeel with tasty malt flavors.

Partly cloudy orange color with high carbonation. Bubbly off white head. Aroma of amber malts... Flavor nutty. Not overly nutty, just enough to taste it. Very light body, very close to water gravity. Lightly bitter finish.

a clear sunny amber with a head disappearing as quick as it came. Smells of sweet honey and nuts, touch of orange, and lemon-lime hop. a very light pecan flavor, a light honey sweetnes, a light bitterness, and not much else. Pleasant flavor but feels like its missing a core. body is light/watery.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy medium amber. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted nuts, toasted grain/bread, husks), lightly to moderately hoppy (herbs, apricot), with notes of honey and soap. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, slightly husky. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Very watery, thin, and somewhat rough in the mouth, but there are some aspects in the aroma that aren’t too bad. Very good for an Abita product.
