GAManiac (166), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Apr 29, 2008 Cloudy amber color with a relatively dense one-finger head that dissipated quickly leaving no lacing and only the slightest foam around the glass. Aroma of sweet malts and a little yeast. Only a hint of nuts as far as I could smell. Again a fairly nondescript malty taste with some nuttiness, not much. I got a little hoppy bitterness at the very end. Thin, watery mouthfeel with very little body. A decent nut brown ale, but probably only average as far as brown ales go. I probably wouldn’t seek this one out.
kramer17801 (1828), sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 24, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a clear orangish amber body with a fizzy light beige head. Lots of carbonation. The nose is sweet and fruity with lots of honey and caramel malt. I can smell a bit of actual pecan, but I have to use my imagination a bit. There’s certainly a good bit of pecan flavor though. Lots of sweet caramel and brown sugar, it’s very reminiscent of gooey pecan pie. Rather short finish with just a touch of bitterness. The body is medium with a good bit of residual sugars. This would actually be a bit cloying were it not for the aggressive prickly carbonation that cuts through the sweetness well. Kind of a gimmick beer, but I think I like it. bubbleflubber (623), Collinsville, Virginia, USA Jun 18, 2008 Pours amber into the glass, with an initial off-white head that diminishes to a thin ring, leaving spotty lace. I had to dig to find the right notes in the nose... nuts (pecans?) overlay caramel/toffee notes, in an aerated way... not a huge bouquet, but more distinct as it warms. Doughy caramel malts predominate the flavor, with a sourdough finish... closing with a slight nut-bitter. The mouthfeel is thin, light and lively carbonated... not complex or heavy, but quaffable, and goes down well enough, especially in the summer. Acknud (533), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA Jun 5, 2008 What can I say...an amber ale. Nothing excited. Nutty flavor with some hops. OK to drink but don’t get excited. jzzbassman (640), New Albany, Mississippi, USA May 18, 2008 The aroma, although slight, is where the pecans lie in this. Other than that, the flavor is of a mediocre amber ale. Rciesla (670), Brick City, New Jersey, USA May 13, 2008 Bottle. Pours cloudy orange with white head. Aroma is pecans, malt, and some nuts. Flavor is that but severly diminished.
