COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abita Purple Haze is a crisp, American style wheat beer with fresh raspberries added during secondary fermentation. Subtle coloration, fruity aroma and tartly sweet taste.

On tap at The Office. Pours a hazy glowing orange amber. Notes of raspberry and apricot with a medium bubbly body with a slight hop bite. A little watery and a little artificial but an OK fruit beer.

Poured a cloudy, light orange with a small head. You taste the raspberries straight away. Not unpleasant, but not my kind of beer and way too sweet.

Sampled at the Black Hills Beer Fest. I definitely wasn’t a a fan of this one. It had the overbearing fake berry flavor that was almost rancid. Definitely the worst of the Abita brews that I have tasted.

Poured from a 12oz. bottleinto my Abita Pecan Harvest Ale glass. Aroma is that of a lager, kind of yeasty, with a raspberry tartness. Color is hazy golden as a wheat should be but with no head or lacing. Flavor is not too impressive. I can definitely taste the raspberry! It has a very lively carbonation, and an average body with a sour finish. Overall I am not too impressed with this beer, but it’s drinkable.

12 oz. bottle served in flute- poured a slightly hazy tan/brown color, short lived white head didn’t lace, lively medium carbonation. Aroma was apparent as soon as opening the bottle- a sweet, raspberry/fruity soda like smell. Hits the mouth with a light body, wheat malt gets lost in sweetness, middle feels almost like soda, finish is inept. One for the wifey...

Pours golden brown with a small white head. Smells like raspberry and wheat like the name says which is a welcome difference from some fruit beer that doesn’t carry the aroma of it’s name. There’s a balanced sweet taste with a touch of better in the finish. The palate is refreshing like a cider and would go over well at a cook out. This is a refreshing beer and would be a good last call beer if you’ve had a few duds at the pub.

Bottle. Light orange with a small white head. Aroma was candy raspberry and weak wheat. All I can say about the flavor is raspberry flavored Alka-Seltzer. Thin watery carbonated body with a tannic finish. A few sips and the rest went down the drain.

12 oz bottle pours an average boring pale yellow with a small white head. Aroma is very nice and strong of raspberies. Flavor is pretty bad. Very watery with a slight hint of raspberries. It tastes like coors light added raspberries to its brew. A pretty bad beer if you ask me.
