COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abita Purple Haze is a crisp, American style wheat beer with fresh raspberries added during secondary fermentation. Subtle coloration, fruity aroma and tartly sweet taste.

Hazy dark honey color. Light off pink head that goes away quickly. Actually does have a light pale malt aroma. Raspberry syrup flavor, much like adding a small amout of grenadine to an american standard. Another koolaid brew.

Better than I expected it to be. A nice alternative if you don't want to drink a regular beer or a Mike's.

I don't like wheat beers, so the raspberries (which dominate -- it's like drinking slightly alcoholic kool-aid) hid the bananas and grain very well.

Pours an interesting pale pink/beige with melon highlights. The average white frothy head is mostly diminishing with fair lacing. The refreshing nose is raspberries and grapes and wheat (which always smells like sawdust to me). The flavor is typical wheat with a nice balance and an afterthought of raspberry. Bolder than I would have anticipated by judging the hue of the brew. The medium body is dry and lively. The finish feels chalky.

Hazy yellow-gold, grapefruit juice color with lots of fruity, yeasty aromas. Dry,crisp and very fizzy. Tart raspberry flavor is complemented with an underlying wheat flavor. Reminded me of a carbonated soda, but much better. Great in hot weather, will definitely have again.

By the aroma i didn't know if I was drinking beer or eating pie. The fruit did not over power the taste of the beer. Unfortuantly the beer lacked ANY real good flavors.

Pours a cloudy, pale orange color with particles floating in it and a thin, white head. The aroma is wheaty with hints of raspberry. Medium to light body with moderate carbonation and a crisp mouthfeel. The flavor is wheaty up front, which melts into raspberry sweetness in the finish. Drinkable, nothing spectacular and the raspberry notes are not over whelming.

A cloudy ruby red grapefruit color. A simple beer with a slighly fruity taste. The raspberry is not very evident, but the color clealry shows the additive. This is a very refreshing beer to drink. Very little body or complexity. perfect on a hot summer evening. Similar to a grapefruit carbonated soda. Not exactly what your looking for when you drink one of these, but if you understand what your getting it isn't too bad.

UPDATED: SEP 7, 2003 One of the better fruity beers, in my opinion. Nice hint of raspberry and wheat in the flavor. Nice looking beer in the glass, hazy. Highly drinkable. Not quite as good as Abita's amber.

Cloudy amber color. Hazy is definitely a good word. Some wheat and fruit in the flavor. Not too bad. Very popular in Knoxville, TN.
