COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abita Purple Haze is a crisp, American style wheat beer with fresh raspberries added during secondary fermentation. Subtle coloration, fruity aroma and tartly sweet taste.

Sampled at Empire Brewfest. This has a pretty straight forward big raspberry aroma that is annoying. Probably the weirdest colored beer Iíve seen. This thing is like a hazy pink/peach color with a small white head. Fake raspberry flavors throughout with a touch of mild maltiness shining through. Quite cloying.

(Draught) Sampled at the Empire State Brewing Festival 2004. Pours a mildy-clouded-lemony colour with a quick-dissipating head. I was surprised by the raspberries - they are both sweet yet not artificial tasting. I wasnít overly impressed overall.

I have had 3 raspberry wheats this week; this is not the worst. Good as a refreshing summer brew, but not a strong wheat underpinning. I would have it again, but Iíd try something new first.

This beer tastes to me like some kidís fruit juice. Am I five again? What is with spiking this kidís innocent Juicy Fruit...o, woe is me, let lamentations be cast forth. But it wasnít *that* bad. It was...palatable. It wasnít disgusting or anything - just kind of unexpected for it to taste more like fruit juice than bread products - it also had a very small head if any at all (had it on tap).

Not my cup of tea. I can see how some people would like this beer because it is much beeter than some of the other fruit beers Iíve tried.

Nice cloudy golden orange color, small white head that faded quickly leaving little behind. The aroma is wheaty and mildly fruity (Raspberry) with a very mild hop presence and a slight spicey note to it.The taste was much the same as the aroma with the flavor of fruit being a bit on the mild side, hops showing at the end with a slight bitterness. Not bad but definately could use a little work to get it into the upper echelon of Fruit beers.

Had it on tap. I like the color, sort of a cloudy purple and pink color. The wheaty rasberry taste is very subtle but fills in nicely. This isnt a real great beer or anything, but I still enjoyed drinking it.

Semi-hazy orange color with small white head. Aroma is all raspberries. Flavor has raspberry up front and then a wheat taste with a slightly yeasty bitter finish.

The there was a distinct smell of raspberries. Nice long lasting head. The appearance was a bit cloudy. Not sure if I liked the raspberry flavor. Almost as if someone mixed soda pop in a beer.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2008 [bottle] Pours a hazy peach color with a thick and fluffy white head and good carbonation. Very faint wheaty aroma with a touch of raspberry. Wheaty and grainy taste. Not very fruity, although there was a slight hint of raspberry at the end. Very thin and watery brew.
