Abita Purple Haze is a crisp, American style wheat beer with fresh raspberries added during secondary fermentation. Subtle coloration, fruity aroma and tartly sweet taste.

Very fizzy. The overall taste was decent. The raspberry was very evident but not sickening sweet. Wouldn't try it again though, especially since my wife didn't like it.

This after Lindeman's Framboise lambic...really highlighted this beer's shortfallings. Thought this was too sweet.

UPDATED: APR 27, 2004 On tap. Poured a cloudy golden color with pretty much no head. I expected the worst with this one, as I hate most fruit beers; however, this was somewhat of a pleasant surprise. The beer is light and easy to drink, and the raspberry flavor is understated and not by any means artificial. Don't think I'd drink it if it wasn't on sale (like it was tonight), but this wasn't as bad as other fruit beers I've had (cough) Pete's Strawberry Blonde (cough cough).

Definately a fruited beer that was manufactured incorrectly. The aroma radiating from the glass was like raspberries fertilized with plutonium, too much too much! Taste was not much better. Do not recommend this beer.

Had a very strong raspberry aroma and palate. Otherwise plain beer besides the raspberry, which def isnt't my favorite berry. A thin head and pale appearance.

Strange cloudy appearance hides a smooth fruity taste accented with a pleasant nutty aroma

A very average fruit beer from Abita. Flavor is made up mostly of a sweet raspberry flavor with some malts and light bitterness. The aroma made it smell like a cheap beer though (smelled like musty adjuncts to me). Like it better than Pete's Wicked Winter brew, which was another raspberry beer.

Looks can be decieving. It pours with a slightly cloudy, almost purple hinted color. Aromas of raspberries are there. The flovor is nice and crisp. Not too sweet...

Light yeasty aroma with a mild raspberry aroma. Small head that was white and faded fast. Slight haze with small particles in a light amber colored beer. Flavor was yeasty with a mild raspberry flavor. The raspberry taste lingered for a little while after the finish. I would like to see more raspberry flavor from this beer. An okay beer that would be much better if it had more raspberry flavor.

Ahk! Another fruit beer! This actually tasted like a raspberry popsicle on the first sip. I thought this would be good considering I like the other Abita brews, and that I normally always see Purple Haze stocked, but I have say this fell below my expectations. Nothing going on here except for some radioactive raspberries and just a tiny hint that you are drinking a wheat beer. And I have to say I am not agreeable with this combination. Also, I sensed some "cardboard" taste in my sample...
