COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abita Purple Haze is a crisp, American style wheat beer with fresh raspberries added during secondary fermentation. Subtle coloration, fruity aroma and tartly sweet taste.

Average wheat beer with some raspberry on the palate, most noticeable on the finish. The raspberry is more subtle than I expected, but still it doesn’t add anything for me, not feeling this at all.

12 oz. bottle. Immediate raspberry scents. Hazy tan with moderate white head. Nice raspberry flavors. Not so much a fan of fruity beers, and this one is definitely fruity, but doesn’t taste bad, just sweet and fruity.

I did not expect to like it, but I did. It’s aroma may be off putting, but it actually tastes better that it smells. It has a fruity taste, but not so strong as to make you forget that what you are drinking is beer.

This wheat beer pours a rather bland orange/yellow color but tastes good. Crisp, fruity aroma with a raspberry flavor that is distinct but doesn’t overwhelm the beer.

Pours a hazy yellowish-orange. Pretty much non-existent head. Intense berry aroma. These beers always kind of have a weird scent to me. Flavor is crisp and overpowered on the wheat. The raspberry flavor is a lot more subtle than I expected. It tastes and feels watered down and not like beer. Light body, and very soft mouthfeel. Could probably crush this on a hot summer day. Too bad it’s November. Overall not bad for a fruit beer.

Draft. A hazy amber ber with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of malt and berries. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of berries, leading to a dry wheaty finish.

UPDATED: JAN 12, 2011 This beer gets a lot of bad rep but it is in fact a very great beer that holds its own weight. Hopefully more people can realize that if its light color it can still be full of taste.

Purple Haze. Recommended by a friend and I thought it sounded neat because of the berry flavor.
