COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abita Purple Haze is a crisp, American style wheat beer with fresh raspberries added during secondary fermentation. Subtle coloration, fruity aroma and tartly sweet taste.

When I first heard of this beer I thought it would be a rasberry flavored stout or porter. To my surprise it was a rasberry flavored wheat beer. At first I did not care for the taste, but quickly warmed to the flavor. An interesting beer.

UPDATED: SEP 2, 2003 Better than expected. Fruity flavor as advertised but not enough to over power the entire beer. Bit of bite at the finish. Much more flavor when had on tap.

UPDATED: MAR 11, 2005 Hazy orange with almost no head, fizzy mouthfeel, very weak taste, starts and ends slightly sweet finishes dry. This beer will disappoint fruit beer lovers as well as wheat beer people.

really an alcopop. amber color fizzy head. sugary fruit aroma. taste is bland and too sugary. while one can taste some fruit - it is ard to determine which fruit it really is (rasberry).

Re-Rate 03/25/02 Arizona beer Fest: Nose is sweet, slightly malty, start sickenly sweet, thin, acidic, worse than I remember.

Take Abita Amber and give it just enough raspberry flavor to be noticeable and you’ve got Purple Haze. Kind of odd, actually. Amber is preferable.

Much better on tap than bottled, can be very refreshing, and is an interesting change of pace, but certainly not an everyday beer. My rating is in comparison to other fruit beers; I do prefer it to the lambics I’ve tried.

Too fruity for my tastes. Not a terrible beer, but not a good one either.
