COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abita Purple Haze is a crisp, American style wheat beer with fresh raspberries added during secondary fermentation. Subtle coloration, fruity aroma and tartly sweet taste.

ok this one got a little better as I gave it a chance. Smells of artificial raspberries. Taste is better with more of a traditional wheat beer flavor. The raspberries really come through on the finish, but again not as strong as the aroma. There was a slightly metallic flavor at first, but it too also went away. Not bad, not great.

Draft last night with dinner. Weak wishy washy nose of malt and amorphous light fruit. Body is light to moderate but remains a touch watery throughout. Nice compliment to the Harriet sangwich. Some light raspberry tone that I had to knowingly search for appears near finish. Skip.

Medium yellow, good head. Dark fruit aroma. Taste of blackberries and raspberries. Probably one of my favorite fruit beers.

UPDATED: JUL 19, 2011 Bottle. Poured a cloudy pinkish-yellow with a small white fizzy head that was fully diminishing and had no lacing to speak of. The aroma was very weak with notes of bread malts, a doughy yeast and a slight hint of raspberry. It tasted lightly sweet with a mild acidic characteristic from start to finish and had a slight hint of raspberry at the end with the flavor disappearing from the taste buds almost immediately. Mouthfeel was light in body and watery in texture with the carbonation being quite lively. Overall a nice light refreshing brew with a just a bit of raspberry flavor. Great on those hot summer days when you feel like having more than just a few.

Cloudy copper pour, light head, some lace. Dusty fruity aroma. Nice carb, gritty fizzy mouth. Somewhat artificial raspberry flavor, with a bit of vanilla wheat flavor. Some sour corny beery flavor at the end. Not great, but much better than I was expecting.

Very cool hazy color. Has a little too much citrus and fruit to it, but it is fun to look at.

Not enough love for the Purple Haze...I didn’t think it was as bad as it is rated. Fruity beers are not my thing but this one wasn’t bad

poured from a bottle into a beer glass, white 1 finger fast diminishing head, pale cloudy light orange color, slightly sweet aroma, raspberry on the first sip and a touch of citrus but little else, finish was citrus, watery and quick, refreshing on a hot summers afternoon but not much else.
