WHY?? I ask myself, Why do I keep trying stuff from this brewery? Guess it is because I find them on the singles rack and hope that one day I will find something good. Today was not that day. Another rancid foul tasting brew that is just all wrong. Still wondering how this brewery can keep missing it. Think it might be the water because surely the malts and hops are not giving it that bad taste. Well unless they are using molded malts and hops, but who would be so dumb to do that. Got half way through this and poured the rest out. Just couldnít finish it.

Bottle. Light lemon and malt aroma. Golden yellow with large off-white head. Lightly sweet malt and moderately bitter grapefruit peel flavor. Light body. Just like most other Abita offerings, not much here.

Poured a clear yellow color from the bottle with aromas of light lemon, malt, some grass, and a touch of pilsner. Flavors are a light classic pilsner with some light lemon thrown in. Decent for a summer afternoon after cutting the grass.

I donít think Abita Seersucker Summer Pils is supposed to be a hardcore traditional German pilsner, though itís not especially American, either. Itís got all the makings of a good pilsner as far as taste and drinkability go.

I poured a 12oz can into a pilsner glass. It had a best by date of 9/30/15 and cost $2.50 ($0.21 per ounce).

Appearance: Banana skin yellow color; slightly hazy body but carbonation is visible. Pours to an average sized, white, foamy head which laces and retains fairly well.

Smell: Rather muted nose with only faint notes of pilsner malt and a little bit of citrusy hops.

Taste: Pilsners arenít typically sweet, though thereís nothing inherently wrong with one that is. I found the palette here to be less spicy than your average German-style pils. It seems to opt for lemon-smelling and tasting hops even though theyíre from Germany. The base malt is pretty much standard, with a bit of a bready or biscuity character not found in beers of the style. Itís fairly bitter even though itís only 35 IBUs. It opts for dry lemon zest instead of spicy peppercorn. I notice a remarkable sweetness on the backend reminiscent of caramel, which is interesting for sure.

Drinkability: While Abita Seersucker Summer Pils isnít the best-tasting beer in the world, I found myself going downing my glass rather quickly. A fairly light body thatís consistently crisp and refreshing with a clean aftertaste. At only 4.8% ABV I could easily make the case for this being a session beer. This will (and does) work well as a summer seasonal.

12 oz. bottle served in pilsener glass- poured a nearly transparent solid yellow color with a touch of haze to it, lively medium carbonation but let a small head 2mm in height form with some spotty lacing upon the vessel. Aroma of light wheat and some floral hops. Hits the mouth with a light body, malt is very clean on the feel, middle holds up well, finish is crisp and cool. Very nice.

Bottle - big foamy head, mildly hazy pale straw color, pretty balanced typical pils aroma and flavor, some earthy and grassy notes, fairly crisp finish, not bad overall ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hazy & pale pour with malty, bready & even some lemon aromas. Nicely bittered pilsener with a smooth body and some bitter orange & sparkling mineral water flavor characteristics. Very good pils!

12 oz. bottle into a pilsner. Best by 09/30/2015 A: Pours pretty clear dark gold with an inch of rocky head. Lively bubbles and dogged retention and good lacing too. S: Sweet biscuity malt smell with a faint hint of floral hops. Smells like a pils. T: A surprising peppery hop burst at first sip. Stiff but not sweet maltiness to round out the flavor. Taste departs greatly from the smell. Taste brings to mind Nooner or Torch while the nose reminds of Mamaís. Interesting and quite good, Iím just not sure if itís more to German or Czech style. M: Crisp, medium bodied and tongue-scrubbing and refreshing. Very nice. O: What a nice surprise this is since this beer has received mostly bad reviews. If youíre a lover of pilsners, you should definitely try this while itís around. I like it and donít hesitate to recommend it.

A couple of bottles on a recent trip to New Orleans. Pours a fairly light yellow with a small head. Aroma is...not much - a little non-citrus fruit and malt. Taste is the same - fairly wheaty with a little berry in the background. Decent.

A dark golden color with a white head. The flavor contains some grassy notes, old hay, and corn. Something a bit off. The flavor is much better with a citrus flavor and a dry crisp thing going on. This one is more in the classic german sense with not much malt showing up. This works on a hot day for sure.

Slightly hazy yellow pour, explosive off white head. Nose is malt, hard fruit, slight Euro hops. Bitter. Middle is sweet lightly kilned malt, hint of apple and pear. Finish is spicy and dry. Good for summer.
