4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 FishManLA (337) - Abita Springs, Louisiana, USA - FEB 21, 2010
The newest select. On tap this date at the Abita Brew Pub in Abita Springs. Abita is attempting to copy the likes of Harpoon Leviathan or Stone Ruination IPA with this one, and frankly, they’re pretty much nailing it. Pours a bronze color with a persistent head and nice Chantilly lace lacing. Nose is strongly floral with some wine notes in the background. Flavor is an absolute sensory overload with bitter, piney, woody hops battling it out with the flavor of distinctly sweet rich malts. Notes of pine, oak, grape, apple, citrus, and brandy are all apparent, mingled with too many other flavor notes to identify. Finish is a bitter-sweet chocolate like affair. The best "Select" Abita has produced to date!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 drpimento (1740) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 31, 2011
Pretty good DIPA cept for the carbonation. Served with a thick, creamy, fine, off white head and good lace. Color is a clear amber with bubble streams. Aroma is mainly fresh hops, with malt, citrus, grass. Flavor is much the same as nose with bittersweetness out in front. Body is ok and carbonation is a bit flat. Finish is like flavor but needs the carbonation.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jjuf1853 (1009) - Land O Lakes, Florida, USA - SEP 15, 2011
Draft. Pours a clear copper amber color with a decent sized foamy white head. Citrus pine hops in the aroma. Flavor is fairly mild for a double IPA however. Not terrible, but not very exciting either. I was expecting and hoping for more bitterness in the finish.
