COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our stout is made with British pale, caramel, chocolate, and roasted malts. Oats are also added to give the beer a fuller and sweeter taste. The roasted malts give the beer its dark color as well as its intense flavor and aroma. The flavors of toffee and chocolate are prevalent, but not overpowering. Since the beer gets so much flavor from the malts there is not a lot of hop flavor. There is just enough bitterness to complement the sweetness of the malt.

On Tap - Chimes East. Had a watery feel to it. It came across much lighter in body than expected, but the taste was good. Pronounced roasted flavor and aroma. Probably my favorite of all the Abita beers.

Had on draft. Appearance was black. Aroma of oatmeal (duh) with roasted malt. However, the aroma was kind of faint. Taste of chocolate and roasted malt, thinner that what I usually expect from an oatmeal stout but not anything that should turn anyone off.

Had on tap at rattle n hum in nyc. Pours near black. Rich malt flavors..somewhat earthy, very drinkable for a full flavored stout. Some notes of chocolate, but difficult to pick up bc I had a chocolate stout before this. One of Abitas finest.

Had this on-tap at the Abita brew-pub in Abita Springs, LA. This poured an extremely dark brown color with pillowy white head that hung around forever. Aroma was of roasted malt and oats. Taste was similar and very nice. The one downer for this beer was the watery, thin mouthfeel. Drinkability was really good despite the bad feel.

Tap at Barcade. Deep black beer. Thick tan head. Aroma is very roasty and a little bit fruity. A touch of blackberry and blueberry esters. Flavour is quite cocoaish and earthy. Chewy and lightly fruity. Soft chocolatey finish. Rich palate and a surprisingly good beer.

Out of all the beers I tried on draft at the brewpub, this was my favorite. It is somewhat light, but it still a good stout. Roasted malts and some chocolate are the predominant flavors.

Tap at Barcade.Nice pour, dark with a decent head. Flavor is dead on, with sweetish roast, spongy oatmeal, clean yeast. Perfect for the style. Peanut butter and roast in the aroma, easy drinking and solid all around.

Tap at Barcade: Pours dark, little light comes through, and has a tan ring of head. Roasted aroma- milky, bitter chocolate, and coffee grinds. The texture is both slick and prickly. Has a roasted flavor, with a nutty note as well and lots of coffee roast character. Quite nutty, with a moderate succinct bitter finish. Pretty solid, nothing great.
