COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Released November 2004. Our Pale Ale is made with Maris Otter Pale Malt from Norfolk, England. Maris Otter barley has been a favorite of English brewers for decades because of its rich color and exceptionally full-bodied flavor. We liberally hopped and dry hopped our Ale with American Cascade hops and fermented it with Pale Ale yeast. The use of our pristine and unaltered Abita Springs water softens the bitterness of the hops. The result is burnish orange ale with a rich body, fruity esters, and a snappy fresh citrus hop flavor.

Draft at Abita Brew Pub. Nice floral aroma. White head that dissipates fairly quickly. Nice hoppy, floral, citrusy taste. I enjoyed this very much.

Draft at Abita Brew Pub. Nice white head that didn’t really last long. Really fine, hoppy, floral flavor. Although previously not that crazy about IPA’s this one may have changed my mind. This is really excellent.

On tap at The Chimes in Baton Rouge, La. Poors a clean sold medium copper with a thin, but long lasting white head. Aroma not very noticeable, a hint of fresh lake water, with some yeasty accents - not bad. Flavor has some subtle bitter notes, a dash of citrus and nectarines, and some caramelly malt sweetness. Background of yeast and biscuity sweetness. Mouthfeel, average for the style. OVerall, decent.

Draught at Mellow Mushroom in Birmingham, AL. Pours copper with a whtie frothy head that quickly becomes a light film on top with very good spotty lacing. Slightly sour caramel malt (hay, straw) and yeast aroma with a hoppy fruit nose. Light malt acidic flavor and hoppy but cleanly so with a buttery feel and caramel finish. Medium bodied and lightly fizzy, somewhat creamy and very drinkable.

Quite a pleasant surprise, not your run-of-the-mill brewpub PA. Very much in the English style, reminded me of some of the better upstate NY pales - done with a . Light ruddy gold. Webby bone head. A fantastic aroma, everything that’s good in a bitter/PA -- good yeast and malt without the musk. Hoppy, woody, moderately sweet, well-balanced, session weight.
