Strawator is a take on our most popular Harvest Series beer, Strawberry Harvest Lager. It is a strong golden lager made with malted barley and wheat. Despite being strong, it is still light in color. It is hopped with German Perle hops to give the beer a delicate hop flavor. After filtration, a generous amount of fresh Louisiana strawberry juice is added, giving the beer a pleasant sweet taste and aroma, as well as a nice golden color and slight haze.

4 oz draft pour at Leinenkugelís Beer Garden in Baltimore. Clear yellow with off-white head. Aromas of jolly ranchers, fruit candy, fruit syrup. Tastes of jolly ranchers, fruit candy, jelly. Medium-light body with a dry finish.

Definitely better than the other fruit beers from Abita, but still an uncomfortably sweet, syrupy beer. Tried at Tedís taphouse in 2014.

On tap at battleship. My wife ordered this one, because she unfortunately doesnít particularly like beer. But she will do the fruity ones! But anyway, Iím blabbing. Pours a light golden color with a slight haze. Aroma is of sweeter malts, strawberry cake, frosting. Taste is the same. I mean this thing actually tastes like strawberry cake to me. I like strawberry cake. Has a bittersweet finish. Much better than their strawberry lager!

Hazy maber with a thin white lacemaker. Aroma of heavy strawberries and cream, sweet malt and yeast. Taste of prickly strawberries, cream, caramel and a sweet fruity finish. Easily the best Abita to date.

On tap at Joe Canals West Deptford.
Appearance: Mildly hazy golden to amber hued body. Short and dense white head sticks around for a bit.
Aroma: Sweet strawberry Chobani greek yogurt.
Taste: Spritzy strawberry, mildly sweet with a wine cooler edge to it. Light floral and toasted finish.
Palate: Sprizty and light bodied.
Overall: This would be a huge hit in the Summer for those who enjoy fruity alcoholic beverages. Very refreshing and drinkable, though I wouldnít want more than a glass or two.

Draft to taster. Looks alright; a mostly transparent gold with white lacing. Smells and tastes of heavy strawberries and lager yeast. Average (at best) on the palate. Too strawberry-forward for my preference.

Draft at Beer Run. Pours a hazy orange color with a thin white head. Fair head retention. Aroma of candy strawberry, pale malts, buttery notes, mild hops. The taste is candy strawberry, pale malts, a bit of citrus hops. Thin-medium bodied. Not really much going on here.

9/20/2013: Abita Strawator... Might as well get all of the fruit beers out of the way first and luckily this is the last... Golden color, strawberry candy aroma, strawberries and cream soda flavor, fairly light and fizzy on the tongue. Itís okay, but not really my thing. The high alcohol is also a turn off despite it being exceptionally well-hidden. I guess thatís what a lot residual sweetness can do... Draught sample(s) at Party Town in Florence, KY. Rating #28 for this beer.

On tap at Untapped Dallas. Golden pour with a white head. I didnít really know what to think of this one going in, but I liked it. I get some strong strawberry notes which add a lot of sweetness to the beer. There is also a bit of alcohol and some biscuit malt coming through. When I tried this I was outside in 104 degree temps and it was very refreshing. For a summer thirst quencher this is pretty nice even though it is fairly high in alcohol. Not bad at all.

Pleasant and easy to drink. It remarkably covers up the alcohol. Sweet strawberry aroma. Clear golden color with a white fizzy head. Light and crisp palate with high carbonation that works. Some have equated the flavors with Crunchberry cereal and even though there is the essence of strawberry with grains, I donít think it was that artificial. Strawberry definitely stands out and masks the other flavors, it was still fairly well balanced.
