Commercial Description:
Ripe, red Louisiana strawberries are harvested at the peak of the season in the early morning chill. The scent of the juicy red Ponchatoula berries fills the air as they’re picked and pressed for Abita Strawberry Harvest Lager. The end result is a light, crisp lager with just a hint of strawberry sweetness.

Clear yellow with a two finger frothy white head. Aroma of Froot Loops cereal--cereal grain, artificial fruit, and light biscuits. Flavor is heavily oxidized, lots of grain with light strawberry. Fairly papery and grainy with the aforementioned Froot Loops finish. Moderate carbonation with a thin body. Crappy. Label notched on 09/02.

Pours a fairly clear gold with a thick, bubbly 1 1/2 inch white head. very active carbonation. Aroma of slightly sour malt, strawberries and grass. Flavor is standard malty lager, lightly sweet with a dash of strawberries. Meh.

in bottle. Confusing to find this beer in the fall - isn’t strawberry harvest usually in May? I do think there are some hops in this beer, near the end. this is a good attempt at a fruit beer, and props to abita for experimenting with the strawberry. A good summer beer, this is basically a flavored watery lager.

In the bottle from Inari Wines. Pours a clear hazy medium gold with a small white head. The aroma is of seedy strawberries. The flavor is whopping packed with strawberries from beginning to end. I mean, wow, I was not expecting to like this at all. It’s not a sweet beer, just has a huge strawberry flavor. Starts benign, but then you get hit with this huge bolus of strawberries. Good novelty beer.

Pours a nice golden color with decent head. The nose is malt and most definitely strawberries. The flavor is mild strawberry. The finish is crisp and clean with just a lingering of the fruit. Fine for a summers day but not what I would choose if given the choice.

12 oz bottle. Pale golden colour, white head. Aroma of strawberries and pale malt but there is a very artificial chemically component. Flavour has a fake strawberry, butyric rancidity, and a nasty sour spoiled nuttiness. Wet grain/cereal finish and a burned plastic finish. Ugh.
