Commercial Description:
Ripe, red Louisiana strawberries are harvested at the peak of the season in the early morning chill. The scent of the juicy red Ponchatoula berries fills the air as they’re picked and pressed for Abita Strawberry Harvest Lager. The end result is a light, crisp lager with just a hint of strawberry sweetness.

Poured a nice golden color with a thick white head. Definite strawberry aftertaste which intensified as it warmed. My wife really liked this but I’d have to pass on trying this again.

Bottle sampled. Pours a hazy yellow with a thin white head. Aroma of strawberries and some light grain. Flavor is strawberries, and lager hops with a fairly light body.

Bottle. Pours out a golden color witha one finger (but quickly disappearing) white head. Aromas are of strawberries, albiet kind of a fake strawberry, and the grain from the malt comes through as a shortcake scent. Flavor then comes across as fairly artificial, almost like a Fruit Roll Up or strawberry flavored Special K. It’s not really disgusting or anything, but I’m not sure to what extent I would call this beer. Maybe "Alcoholic Fruit Roll Up" beverage or something like that. Still, it is the first beer I’ve tried with strawberries...

Courtesy of Nick76. The aroma offers white cake, powdered strawberry mix and a hint of toasted malts. The body is ever a bright pale golden color and the head is two fingers thick, firm and quite lasting. The first sip greets you with lightly fruit-kissed grains gives the impression of a sugary breakfast cereal with water, rather than milk, added. It really doesn’t taste like strawberries, but rather just generically fruity. That being said, it’s not bad for what it is was obviously designed to be. It is a lightly fruity lager-pop and I suspect A-B would be proud to brew something like this.

While there is a hint of Strawberry, its too much on the mild side for it to be truly effective. The rest of the beer is just a flat, bland attempt at nothing. update 2/22/08 gave another chance, it does have some reddeming qualities but far from outstanding

I was disappointed by the aroma or lack of. The flavor had a hint of strawberry sweetness. Nothing much else going on. Good for the summer.
