Commercial Description:
Ripe, red Louisiana strawberries are harvested at the peak of the season in the early morning chill. The scent of the juicy red Ponchatoula berries fills the air as they’re picked and pressed for Abita Strawberry Harvest Lager. The end result is a light, crisp lager with just a hint of strawberry sweetness.

Sampled at the summer beer tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 5/29/09. Cloudy gold color with a medium white head. Strong strawberry aroma with malt and a touch of hops. Creamy flavor with a strong strawberry popsicle influence. Kudos to Abita for using real strawberries, but it’s too much. Doesn’t taste much like a beer.

Bottle. Aroma is strawberry, caramel malt and some citrus. Light yellow golden with. Foamy white head that laces in big gobs. Flavor is fruity, citrusy with strawberry notes. Very highly carbonated, almost spritzery. Finishes kind of stale. Interesting but not compelling enough to want to drink again.

Bottle. Pours light yelllow/golden in color with a small, fizzy head. The aroma is light berries, some grass and grains. Flavor is a light lager of subtle cereal grains, sweet berries, and sweet malts. Body is thin, finish is clean yet sweet.

nice aroma of strawberries and none too chemical. flavor is very dry and quite bitter as well. like their purple haze, the fruit flavor is quite muted and might even be called subtle, despite the over the top aromas in this one. i guess that works to its advantage, though i still have no interest in this style after an example like this.

12 oz bottle from Archer Liquors. This poured a thin watery yellow, some head. Smells kind of like pop tarts. Taste is similar but a bit better. A decent strawberry flavor but has some weird sugary aftertaste. Not bad at all, better than I thought it would be.

Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is sweet strawberry. Flavor is not as strong as the aroma. There is definitely a strawberry flavor that mixes well with the breadiness and hint of butter. Almost shortcake like. Very enjoyable.

Nice strawberry aroma, excellent head. Not bad for a session/lawnmower brew. Fruit beers are disdained by some, but the wife plans on making beer bread with it. I will drink more of it.

Clouded yellow. Strong sweet smell. Strawberries are definitely present. Tingle over the palate. Not quite as sweet as I would have hoped. Strawberries add aroma and not much flavor. Still has a citrus acidity feeling regardless of the fruit choice. Bready finish. Almost has a tea finish. Extra point for the aroma.
