4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
I love this beer, but I have a real soft spot for strawberry lager. The fresh, locally harvested strawberries are very evident. Light taste that makes for an excellent summer beer. It’s a shame they only make this for two months during the strawberry festival.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JUN 28, 2006 Smells like hot buttered toast with strawberry jam. Not much to look at - plain twistoff bottle, clear yellow beer. Pretty dry, light strawberry, decent bittering, moderately tart. FInishes a bit tinny. Interesting, and a clean summer beer. Thanks to PorterPounder for the trade.

Pours a hazed gold with a slight reddish tint. The aroma is a bit like strawberry shortcake, but little offensive in a way I can’t quite put my finger on. The flavor is more of the strawberry shortcake, but it started to grow on me after a few sips. Really not a bad beer to chug on a hot day, but I’m not sure I’d pay for it again.

Bottle. Hazy golden color with a large white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate strawberry bread aroma. Light to medium body with a watery texture. Medium sweet strawberry flavor with a short sweet finish. Not my style so it was worth having once.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 oz bottle. Clear golden-orange color with thin white head. I’m not kidding when I say this...it smells identical to crunchberry cereal. Flavor is similar. That’s right, Cap’n Crunch reincarnated. That said, it’s not bad, but you better like fruity beers.

UPDATED: MAY 23, 2008 I don’t care how this may affect my credibility. I love this beer. Served very chilly in a pilsner flute. I like the flute, I think the key to enjoying this beer is to retain as much dissolved CO2 as possible. The nose is light pilsner with a kiss of wild strawberry. The palate starts off with an off-dry malt sweetness that quickly fads against a very light hop and a very real strawberry flavor. Almost a spicy strawberry. Very clean finish, no candied fruit, not syrupy, not fake. Imagine that strawberry tartness that the natural fruit acidity lends.
Very nice drinker, very refreshing. May not be a session, but a fruit beer that I like none-the-less.

1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20
Pours a clear golden color with a tiny fizzy white head. Aroma is reminiscent of cheap strawberry perfume that little kids wear and armpit. The flavor is mostly butter and strawberry. Extremely unpleasant.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 oz bottle. Fairly well balanced strawberry flavor - not too overpowering. Interesting that they’d put this in a lager and not a wheat or other ale as I think that makes the balancing act a little tougher. The aroma is appealing and it is very refreshing. I like it and think it would make a great mixer half & half with some Guiness - chocolate covered strawberry anyone?

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Cork & Bottle Liquors, Baton Rouge, La. - 12 oz bottle. Very pale golden, cloudy pour, little to no head. Slight strawberry aroma with an odd twang reminiscent of a beauty parlor. Flavor does have some strawberries of course but it is fairly artificial - more like strawberry frosting. Not much else going on. Finish is slightly metallic. Abita seems to have just phoned this one in.
