Ripe, red Louisiana strawberries are harvested at the peak of the season in the early morning chill. The scent of the juicy red Ponchatoula berries fills the air as theyíre picked and pressed for Abita Strawberry Harvest Lager. The end result is a light, crisp lager with just a hint of strawberry sweetness.

The aroma has a light lager smell with light but real strawberries. The appearance is yellow with a thin head. The flavor is quite refreshing and fruity like the aroma. The palate is thin. Overall itís OK.

Bottle. Cloudy copper pour w/ lots of carbonation. Strawberry aroma hits you right away. After fruit flavor dissapates, there isnít much more to this offering.

Pours a slightly clouded gold. Nose is a touch of strawberries over a firm metallic character. Flavor is kind of like a smooth lager with a creamy strawberry presence that is just slight. What ruins it for me is the somewhat harsh aftertaste of metal. Just too much metallic for my liking. Feel is thick with carbonation and fairly standard on the liquid. Overall it is drinkable, yes. Just not so much since there is a lack of firm strawberry and also with the presence of so much metallic.

12 oz. bottle. Light yellow, thin watery pour with little head, but a champagne-like internal carbonation. Jammy sweet strawberry fragrance with little flavor to follow through. Not too sweet, not too much of anything or any flavor, though somewhat rice-y, with a sour finish and pasty aftertaste of stale Juicy Fruit gum thatís been under a table for a few weeks. Overall, a poor representation of a fruit beer with little body or flavor.

Clear yellow with a two finger frothy white head. Aroma of Froot Loops cereal--cereal grain, artificial fruit, and light biscuits. Flavor is heavily oxidized, lots of grain with light strawberry. Fairly papery and grainy with the aforementioned Froot Loops finish. Moderate carbonation with a thin body. Crappy. Label notched on 09/02.

Pours a fairly clear gold with a thick, bubbly 1 1/2 inch white head. very active carbonation. Aroma of slightly sour malt, strawberries and grass. Flavor is standard malty lager, lightly sweet with a dash of strawberries. Meh.

I think this is a great summer beer. I think the taste is great. Very unique. I look forward to buying more each year!

in bottle. Confusing to find this beer in the fall - isnít strawberry harvest usually in May? I do think there are some hops in this beer, near the end. this is a good attempt at a fruit beer, and props to abita for experimenting with the strawberry. A good summer beer, this is basically a flavored watery lager.

In the bottle from Inari Wines. Pours a clear hazy medium gold with a small white head. The aroma is of seedy strawberries. The flavor is whopping packed with strawberries from beginning to end. I mean, wow, I was not expecting to like this at all.Itís not a sweet beer, just has a huge strawberry flavor. Starts benign, but then you get hit with this huge bolus of strawberries. Good novelty beer.

Pours a nice golden color with decent head. The nose is malt and most definitely strawberries. The flavor is mild strawberry. The finish is crisp and clean with just a lingering of the fruit. Fine for a summers day but not what I would choose if given the choice.
