Commercial Description:
Ripe, red Louisiana strawberries are harvested at the peak of the season in the early morning chill. The scent of the juicy red Ponchatoula berries fills the air as they’re picked and pressed for Abita Strawberry Harvest Lager. The end result is a light, crisp lager with just a hint of strawberry sweetness.

I don’t care how this may affect my credibility. I love this beer. Served very chilly in a pilsner flute. I like the flute, I think the key to enjoying this beer is to retain as much dissolved CO2 as possible. The nose is light pilsner with a kiss of wild strawberry. The palate starts off with an off-dry malt sweetness that quickly fads against a very light hop and a very real strawberry flavor. Almost a spicy strawberry. Very clean finish, no candied fruit, not syrupy, not fake. Imagine that strawberry tartness that the natural fruit acidity lends. Very nice drinker, very refreshing. May not be a session, but a fruit beer that I like none-the-less.

Bottle. Aroma is that of Captain Crunch Berry, no joke. Flavor is that of light strawberry. Probably would go really good with a desert of some kind on a nice hot spring or summer evening.

Very noticeable strawberry in the nose. Gold color with a somewhat pinkish hue. The head subsided quickly leaving a faint layer of foam. Malty and slightly carbonated mouthfeel. The strawberries reveal themselves early on then last throughout a pleasant soft finish. Reminded me of strawberry ice cream. Seems better than last year.

12 oz. Clear deep golden with a two-finger creamy head that lasts. Aroma is strawberries ’n cream. Flavor is similar but leans more toward the tart strawberry on the front and the creamier flavor towards the finish. Thankfully, not as sweet or artificial-tasting as many of the offerings in this style. Light body is crisp and dry. A little too carbonated for my tastes, but the tart berries and the bubbles give this beer a nice refreshing tingle.

Appearance is yellowish amber with a thick head that laces the glass. I can’t detect much of an aroma- slight hint of strawberry. LOVE the flavor!! SLightly bitter, strawberry, barley, wheat... smooth on the palate with a crisp finish.

Okay - maybe my rating is skewed by the fact that I didn’t realize it was a Strawberry Lager until after a few sips and then read the lable. I I’m normally not a "fruit" beer drinker but the Strawberry flavor was not overpowering, the beer was slightly hoppy and not too sweet. It was definitely something different.

golden clear, white head. Aroma of strawberry, berries, floral hops. Taste had some malt, strawberry was there but too light, some fruit tartness and hop bitterness. Actually this one wasn’t that bad, just has to be very fresh to be enjoyed. This could be a good beer, but just like purple haze, the fruits seem to get lost in a haze of themselves and become hard to be noticed. They could really make the fruit more present.
