Ripe, red Louisiana strawberries are harvested at the peak of the season in the early morning chill. The scent of the juicy red Ponchatoula berries fills the air as theyíre picked and pressed for Abita Strawberry Harvest Lager. The end result is a light, crisp lager with just a hint of strawberry sweetness.

Bottle at Sunset Grill, fall 2008. Fairly true strawberry nose boasts of more fruit than beer, though it dosent seem candyish or cloying and there does seem to be some malt crispness on the end. Not any flaws that I can detect and a pretty high strength of aroma. Shockingly reserved in fruit sweetness, with seemingly most of the sugars fermented out. You even get some light pale malt graininess and a lager yeast crispness on the finish. No wateriness, medium-light bodied with no alcohol or flaws perceivable. How this brewery is so hit or miss is beyond me.

If this is real strawberry all I have to say is wow. It seems fake. Nose is a bit skunky then strawberry. Taste is fruity and also meaty. Light on the tongue. I can see this being a big chick beer. Carmel skunk and strawberries. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hazy straw yellow in color... Aroma of fruity pebbles, artificial strawberries.... Flavor is crisp and refreshing, lots of wheat and strawberry notes, kind of tastes like juice, good if you are looking for that kind of thing... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear dark yellow. Strong strawberry aroma with wheat. Aroma is actually fairly similar to Capín Crunch crunch berries. Artificial strawberry flavor is also similar to crunch berries. Fizzy. I like Capín crunch but itís a weird flavor to have in my beer.

6flight tap at Geraghtyís Pub, Burlington, nj. Wow... big strawberry and honey nose. Light cloudy ale is a fun brew and reminds me of bubblicious gum. Probably would stop at one pint.

Shared 12 oz. bottle. Straw color, slightly hazy, with a white head. Aroma of strawberry and a sub-par lager. Taste is wheat, very weak and artificial strawberry, and bad, impure watery lager. Similar to Purple Haze, but with strawberries rather than raspberries. Not a fan.

Aroma: all lager and little or no strawberry; Appearance: light straw, clear, with white head that dissipates slowly; Taste: starts with a lager and quickly transforms to odd, almost burned plastic taste; Palate: light bodied with no finish; Overall: really wanted to like this but donít understand the appeal. Drain pour.

Smells of semi sweet strawberrlies and light malts. Nice light yellow color. Taste is slightly malty with a hint of strawberry in the backend. Smooth crisp carbonation with light body, quite refreshing. Not bad overall but could use a stronger strawberry flavor.

April 27th, 2014 - Pretty and blonde, the Harvest Lager is a playful sprite from a hot land, giving a sweet veneer to a light beer palate. The aroma is close to marketing, whipped cream and strawberries evident on the nose from the first whiff. Moving forward, the palate is light, which I appreciate, given that this feels like a way to cool down on a hot Southern summer day, and less like a way to finish a heavy winter meal. A lighter carbonation also gives this some much needed levity, and a bar against sweating brows and upper lips. Given my expectations for a brewery with a very large circulation, Iím quite pleased with the Strawberry Harvest Lager, and continue to suck on the honey flavored aftertaste after each sip.

I found this beer to have a light and pleasant strawberry flavor. I feel this would be a nice and refreshing summertime beverage.
