Commercial Description:
Ripe, red Louisiana strawberries are harvested at the peak of the season in the early morning chill. The scent of the juicy red Ponchatoula berries fills the air as they’re picked and pressed for Abita Strawberry Harvest Lager. The end result is a light, crisp lager with just a hint of strawberry sweetness.

Pours a hazy yellowish color with a short lived smallish white head. Smell is sweet malt and strawberry candy, and a bit strange. Taste is like strawberry cereal and reminds me of the milk at the bottom of the bowl. Medium bodied with normal carbonation. Hint of odd sourness. Not that great.

12oz bottle. hazy yellow pour with a finger or so sudsy white head. candied strawberry aroma. thin flavor of malt, strawberries, vanilla and grain. kinda a shocker on the first sip - but seems more bearable on repeat tastes. light fruit and malts up front and sharp acidic bite through the finish.

Pours a slightly clouded gold. Nose is a touch of strawberries over a firm metallic character. Flavor is kind of like a smooth lager with a creamy strawberry presence that is just slight. What ruins it for me is the somewhat harsh aftertaste of metal. Just too much metallic for my liking, especially for a brew like this. Feel is thick with carbonation and, overall it is drinkable. Again another OK fruit beer to try, but there are better ones to pick up.

Bottle, pours a slightly hazy golden yellow color with a dense white head. Tons of strawberry in the aroma and flavor with hints of malt and hops. Surprisingly more tart than sweet flavor and mouthfeel. Not terrible for a fruit beer, but not great either, just okay.

bottle poured a light golden in color with a coating of white foamy head. aroma has fermented strawberry, fruit sweetness, and a bit of champagne bitterness. light mouth feel without too much carbonation. flavor has strawberry candy, grassy hops, pale malt, light sweetness, and a bit of bitterness in the finish. the fruit is not over the top wine cooler and there is a beer at it’s core. I like the fact the aroma has good candy fruit but in the flavor it does not get carried away.

Sampled at the summer beer tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 5/29/09. Cloudy gold color with a medium white head. Strong strawberry aroma with malt and a touch of hops. Creamy flavor with a strong strawberry popsicle influence. Kudos to Abita for using real strawberries, but it’s too much. Doesn’t taste much like a beer.

Bottle. Aroma is strawberry, caramel malt and some citrus. Light yellow golden with. Foamy white head that laces in big gobs. Flavor is fruity, citrusy with strawberry notes. Very highly carbonated, almost spritzery. Finishes kind of stale. Interesting but not compelling enough to want to drink again.
