GAManiac (216), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Apr 29, 2008 Updated: May 16, 2008 Pours a pale, hazy golden color with a thin white head that dissipates quickly but leaves a minimal head for quite a while. No lacing. Very light smell of malts, hops, and yeast, but it’s the strawberries that dominate this smell. Strawberries again with a nice malty backbone. Tastes like a liquid strawberry shortcake or strawberry yogurt. Clean, dry finish with the faintest hop presence. Light bodied, watery and highly carbonated. Nice and clean. This would be an ideal beer on a hot, humid Louisiana afternoon. I wouldn’t put it at the top of my list of fruit beers, but I found it quite drinkable.
hopdog (4444), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 25, 2008 12oz bottle. Poured a medium and slightly hazy golden color with a smaller sized head. Aromas of strawberries / berries, and grains. Tastes of strawberries (more so than the aromas). Thinner body. illinismitty (1327), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jul 19, 2008 Updated: Jul 21, 2008Bottle at Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie Bar in Nashville. Pours golden with a white head. Macro like texture. Beery and strawberry aroma. Flavor is pretty much strawberry, cheap pale lager, a hint of nuts, all combined with too much sweetness. Not my thing. EithCubes (1756), Indiana, USA Jul 15, 2008 Bottle. Lovely powdery strawberry aroma fills the room, reminds of certain brands of strawberry ice cream. Cloudy light yellow-golden with medium carbonation and a fluffy, creamy white head. Watery body with light crispiness and thin strawberry sweetness. I swear I’ve had mixed-fruit gelato like this. The underlying lager is weak; otherwise, this might compete for a 3.0. Decent light summer fare. cking (712), North Canton, Ohio, USA Jul 11, 2008 Hesitant to buy a single, I’m now kicking myself for not getting the entire sixer. This is a surprisingly wonderful fruit beer. Looks like a pale lager with a golden yellow body and fluffy white cap. Delectable aroma of candied strawberries, very subdued and intriguing. Crisp yet soft on the palate, it’s a delicate mouth feel with a sweet, fruity punch. The flavor really stands out with a nice pale malt backbone and complimenting fresh strawberries. The fruit really accents this lager and tastes genuine. Thumbs up to Abita for this delicious treat. davidCC (122), New York, USA Jun 28, 2008 This contained far too much strawberry flavor. Taste reminded me of the strawberry daiquiris synonymous for the area where this is brewed. Too sweet and off target.
