Abita Turbodog is a dark brown ale brewed with Willamette hops and a combination of British pale, crystal and chocolate malts. This combination gives Turbodog its rich body and color and a sweet chocolate-toffee like flavor.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a dark burgundy color with great clarity given its shade. I like its head - a three finger light tan color with nice retention, and excellent texturing. Even after a while, it still remains a half finger high, leaving very nice, thick lacing down the side of the glass. S: Toasted caramel malts and chocolate. Very faint in general - thereís nothing wrong with it per se, but itís so aromatically boring. T: Again, not really flawed, but so damn mild and even watery. Chocolaty sweetness to start, a candylike midtaste, with a vaguely toasted finish. And thatís about it. I can chug it, at least. M: Clean, damn near bone dry, and thin. This makes it super easy to drink, but the watery factor detracts some. Good carbonation. O: The ultimate in inoffensive beer. Thereís nothing bad or good here - really, it just exists in the market place like white bread exists in a grocery store. And money no object, would you rather have white bread or the artisanal 9-grain stuff? Thought so.

UPDATED: MAY 31, 2015 At Pivoteka. Dark brown body, slightly tinged with amber with a big, thick off white head. Gusher too. Raisins in the aroma. Taste... Raisins, slightly watery, diluted... sticky raisin water with light roast basically.

Bottle to shaker glass, pours reddish brown, two finger beige head, some lace and decent retention. Aroma of roasted malt. Taste is mainly sweet with just a touch of bitterness. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, mouth feel is a little thin. Finishes sweet. Tasting notes of toffee, roasted chocolate malt, nuts and brown sugar. Itís alright, nothing out of the ordinary.

Bottle to glass. Better than I remember this beer from long past, half forgotten trips to the crescent city. Appearance is dark brown, but translucent. Big healthy white head, Aroma is brown sugar, cinnamon bread, malt Taste is sugar cinnamon, bread, (do I taste beignet). Very full, sweet and tasty. Medium carbonation that lasts. Very pleased. Iíll buy this again.

Old rating. Bottle from Old Town. Aromas of grain, chocolate, brown sugar and molasses. Taste is fairly sweet on the palate. Great balance. Rich and full-bodied flavor with average carbonation. Solid brown ale with a nice malty finish.

Bottle - 355ml. Very dark brown body with a thin beige foamy head. Good malty/hoppy aroma with roasty and woody hints. Its good malty/hoppy taste carries woody, roasted cereals, and some subtle liquorice notes. Ends with a decent bitter/roasty finish. Enjoyable.

Pours a clear dark brown with auburn hues and a small light-brown head. Aroma of nuts, roasted malt, caramel and a touch of chocolate. Flavour pretty much follows the aroma but is milder then the aroma leads you to believe. It has quite a dry finish. Bodyís a little flat and light.

Poured from 12 ounce bottle purchased as part of an Abita variety 12 pack from Jeffís Marathon, tasted on April 5, 2015. Dark brown hue, strong malty aroma, moderate malt flavor with chocolate, coffee and toffee elements. Some chemical notes keep this from getting a higher score. Still, better than I remember it from the mid 90ís at Abitaís brewpub.
