COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abita Turbodog is a dark brown ale brewed with Willamette hops and a combination of British pale, crystal and chocolate malts. This combination gives Turbodog its rich body and color and a sweet chocolate-toffee like flavor.

Bottle. Pours a deep chestnut, medium beige head with okay retention and decent lacing. Nose is malt, caramel, molasses. Mouth is medium bodied, dry with an underlying bitterness throughout, mildly creamy on the palate, malt, pumpernickel bread, not really complex. A basically boring, slightly sub-par brown.

Dark brown coke colour with a small beige head. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, a little vegemite and toast. Taste is fairly low on bitterness, vegemite, coffee, toffee, a little hazelnut. Much thinner bodied than I’d like. Not bad but doesn’t scale any great heights.

Pours a clear day mahogany. Not much head or lacing. Roasted malts, oak, hints of vanilla on the nose. Hints of bourbon, caramel. Overall, a decent brown ale.

Transfer from BA review on 7-16-12- Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance – Pours a hearty deep brown color with a huge tan head. When held up to the light a reddish hue comes through the glass. The head fades slowly to give a medium level of lacing. Smell – The smell is of chocolate, roasted coffee and some caramel. Mixed with this is a light spicy hop aroma with a somewhat peppery spice. Taste – A semi-sweet milk chocolate flavor meet the tongue. Hints of caramel and some lighter coffee flavors are mix nicely with the chocolate malt flavor. As the taste advances the caramel fades with some very light hoppy flavors that come in. Overall it leaves a lightly spiced chocolate flavor on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The carbonation level is on the lower side with the body slightly above normal. Both suit the chocolate and roast flavors nicely, really allowing them to soak into the tongue. Overall- A rather tasty and enjoyable brown ale. It has a nice slightly sweeter flavor and a good mouthfeel.

Looks identical to a glass of coke. A typical watery and boring brown ale. Darker than most but this doesnt add to its complexity or flavour.

The aroma nutty and chocolatey. He taste isn’t as good as the aroma, it tastes like it’s missing something. Pretty good brown.
