Wouldn’t turn this down if it was handed to us...however, wouldn’t buy it again either. OK at best.

UPDATED: SEP 29, 2014 Aroma is roasted malts, caramel and toffee. Taste is medium rich malts with slight bitterness. Not overly deep flavors. Appearance is black with a thin pearl head that retains fairly poorly.

Surprisingly smooth flavor on the front end with chocolatey and nutty aroma. Creamy thick head and dark chocolate in color. You can taste the chocolate and caramel notes and the finish is slightly tart.

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a small tan head. Dark malt, chocolate and toffee in the aroma and taste. A nice brown.

Bottle at Frank and Lola’s in Bartlesville, OK poured into a pint glass. Deep brown color with light tan head. Aroma of light roasted malt, nuttiness, caramel, light chocolate and fruity/earthy note. Taste adds notes of dried fruits, molasses, light coffee and spicy/earthy hop bitterness. Medium body, moderate carbonation with light roast finish. Somewhat sweeter brown ale, pretty balanced and nice.

Mild for the style, but good flavors of chocolate, roasted coffee and cream. Oily body but velvety texture.

Ths introductory smell is almost nonexistent. It goes down smooth but lacks any sort of strong flavor. The only similarity to other chocolate or toffee beers is a pronounced aftertaste of old chocolate. Not very good.

Bottle at home shared with Sarah picked up at GBBF for a US state tick. Aroma is nutty caramel with fermenting grass notes. Later there a quite a heavy soapy element to the nose. Nice reddy chestnut brown colour with a thin but persistent light tan head. Flavour is dark fruits, raisin and figs with burnt unrefined sugars, dry with tangy fruits in the finish. Maybe a little apple note. Palate is medium-sweet, moderate to high carbonation. lightish body. Burnt sugar and tangy fruits linger in the finish.

Sötétbarna, kávészínű sör ujjnyi vastag, bézs habpaplannal. Bátortalan aroma egy halványan kávés, kissé füves színezettel, melyhez egy tejkaramellás, mérsékelt, ámde méretes buborékokkal tarkított szénsavtartalmú, voltaképpen említésre méltó, vagy kiugró ízjegyek nélküli, mégis barátságos jellegű test társul. Semmi különleges, mindenesetre összeszedett és sima, finom barnasörös ízhatás.

Bottle. Pours a deep chestnut, medium beige head with okay retention and decent lacing. Nose is malt, caramel, molasses. Mouth is medium bodied, dry with an underlying bitterness throughout, mildly creamy on the palate, malt, pumpernickel bread, not really complex. A basically boring, slightly sub-par brown.

Dark brown coke colour with a small beige head. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, a little vegemite and toast. Taste is fairly low on bitterness, vegemite, coffee, toffee, a little hazelnut. Much thinner bodied than I’d like. Not bad but doesn’t scale any great heights.
