2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 blank (997) - Washington, USA - APR 8, 2003
a decent brown ale. It was a little on light side. Resembled a dark larger more then brown ale. I'm very particular about my ales :)
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 zgaier (284) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - MAY 19, 2012
Pours a red-brown with a tan head and aroma of roasted malt. Taste is sweet, of roasted malt and caramel but lacks flavor with the grainy tastes. Drinkable brew but nothing special.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 thetmaxx (495) - West Sacramento, California, USA - MAY 3, 2012
Poured from the bottle. Pours Lighter brown with a nice thick tan head. Aroma is slightly grainy and lightly chocolate. Flavour is clean and similar to aroma, Palate is on the light Watery side. Overall this made me remember how nice a brown can be especially in the warmer we anther. Pretty good beer!
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Daytonbeer (246) - Ohio, USA - MAY 3, 2012
Pours black with some red hue. Aroma of bready malts. Taste is roasted malts with some carmel. Funk on the back end. Palate is very disappointing.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Scipio (174) - Vernon Hills, Illinois, USA - MAY 1, 2012
Pours a very dark brown with a full, long lasting light tan head. Aroma is bready, with toffee, kind of toasty. Taste is toasty with chocolate, toffee, and hints of nuts. Nothing in the flavor really stands out, instead it is nicely balanced. Drinking is very creamy. Plenty of lacing. Not to light, not to heavy. I would definitely get this again.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 elgiacomo (588) - Chickamauga, Georgia, USA - APR 30, 2012
12oz bottle. Served at around 40F.
Pours dark brown with a small light brown head that quickly recedes to a light cap, leaving a little spotty lacing behind.
Aroma is dark bread, nuts, caramel, toffee, light notes of chocolate and herbal hops. Fair strength.
Flavor is similar, toffee, bread, nuts, a bit of chocolate, fairly sweet, minimal bitterness on the finish.
Mouthfeel is light/medium bodied, good carbonation.
Solid Brown Ale. Not groundbreaking, but not really an extreme style either and it fits the style well.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 dfinney23 (507) - Houston, Texas, USA - APR 21, 2012
Pours dark with a big tan head. Aroma and flavor of roasted malt and bittersweet chocolate. Surprisingly light body. Bonus point for the name.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Onenote81 (898) - Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA - APR 20, 2012
Poured a nice thick dark brown. There is absolutely no light coming through this brew. Enormous tan head with exceptional lacing that layered perfectly after each sip.
Smell was average at best. Some fresh-baked bread scents mixed with coffee, and cocoa.
Very smooth and creamy brew. Taste matched the scents, but with the added slight alcohol bent. Finishes a molasses flavor.
Medium bodied brew, but it came across a little flat. Overall, a fairly good beer, that I’m not so sure I got the best representation of. I will definitely try this again.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 20, 2012
May 2010: Bottle: ordered and drank in the darkness of Mia’s Lounge, Flagstaff.
The beer when poured was as black as coal in the almost unlite interior of the bar, it might have been a tad lighter, difficult to tell, you could clearly see however, this beer refused to have a head put on it.
Dark, bitter chocolate smell, dark bitter chocolate taste. The beer wasn’t flat, but it seemed very un-carbonated and un-fizzy, like coke goes after being opened for an hour.
Reminded me of a weak stout or washed up porter, not overly impressed.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20 Cheosky (33) - Bethesda, Maryland, USA - APR 14, 2012
It is nice. Feels light, floral aroma. Looks really dark almost black. Taste is light and flat, what you get at the beginning will last until fade out. it is lighty bitter and I found it salty. Overall, light with nice flavor but no more than that
